I had previously started something like this at the beginning of the year, sadly family issues got in the way. My Nan got Pneumonia and had a minor heart attack and was in a coma for a few months, so I decided to try an be there for my family. Once she recovered and started to get better I attempted moving to a different place after a few failed attempts I decided to go back to my roots, I've been playing recreationally and after a tournament win, a FT and a FT bubble in two days it got me thinking to attempt this again.
About Me:
I'm Carl, I'm 28 years old and from the UK, I've worked plenty of jobs from building sites to damage control which all need a good work ethic, since 2009 I've been in and out of these jobs due to ill health and eventually had to stop as it was putting to much pressure on my heart. I've had 5 surgeries so far in life and have 4 more to go, thankfully the surgeries have been working and it has eased the pressure, so I can start looking to get back in to work. I have issues with mobility now though due to all the surgeries to my leg, I'm awaiting surgery to correct the issue, so while I wait I'm going to attempt this.
Poker Background:
I don't have a very good poker background, I found poker around 2009 and I was a complete fish at every form of the game I tried. Then at the beginning of 2015 I decided to study a little to help improve my game, my problem was I was trying to be good at all formats of the game and it just really didn't work. Earlier in 2015 I was going to do a cash PG&C thread but after a bit of time playing and studying I just felt my game was better suited MTT's, I've wanted to attempt challenges like this before but my bankroll management was just very poor.
There is my Sharkscope at this point, I will be resetting it at some point to go along with this challenge. As you can see nothing impressive, but I'm confident of changing that.
Poker Challenge:
Due to my bad BRM in the past, I've decided to go with ABI's and the higher the stakes I go the more buy ins I need, so here is how the plan looks:
- Start with $150
- MTT Schedule up to $2.20 | ABI ($1.33) > $800 | Schedule > http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psegfqzz2y.png
- MTT Schedule up to $5.50 | ABI ($4.00) > $2,400 | Schedule > http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psw2fai0nd.png
- MTT Schedule up to $11.00 | ABI ($8.00) > $4,800 | Schedule > http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psoos5fgxk.png
- MTT Schedule up to $27.00 | ABI ($16.00) > $10,000 | Schedule > http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pshg302tl5.png
For those of you that see or have seen my previous thread, this one will be different in that it is only MTT's this time around. I've added images to the schedule's I'll likely play, this is subject to change however as I have no idea how long it will take me to reach the latter stages of this challenge.
Moving Down:
- If I drop to $75.00 I must remove the $2.20 Tournaments
- If I drop to $400.00 I must go back to Phase 1
- If I drop to $1200.00 I must go back to Phase 2
- If I drop to $3000.00 I must go back to Phase 3
They will be my guidelines for moving down if I struggle at a certain level, I'm aware that to complete challenges like this you have to move down. I'd normally be too stubborn to do so but I have put these guidelines in place so I stick to them.
Life Goals:
- Quit Drinking
- Quit Smoking
Now since my last thread I started, I've probably been worse at both drinking and smoking. I'm first going to tackle drinking it's the biggest depression in my life and as I've not had a drink for two weeks, I'm feeling this is something I can accomplish. Having Poker to focus on is a gret help, and I'm hoping to give this challenge a serious go so I'm going to target January for not having a drink as my first goal, once I reach that goal I will set another target.
As for smoking it is the worst thing I can do with my health issues, however I'm not a heavy smoker, compared to my drinking. I'd like to quit smoking some day though so I've added it as one of my goals, my life goals I'm going to tackle one at a time.
I appreciate this thread is very similar to my last thread in terms of layout/challenge with a few minor tweaks but I was happy with how my last thread was going and want this one to be similar, fingers crossed for no more personal crisis in life so I can just grind.
glgl at the tables.
