ME
21yo Economics graduate from the UK - currently on a year out after University before entering the world of work next summer.
Spent 10 weeks this summer interning at a financial services consultancy and really enjoyed it - the goal is to land a job/grad scheme in this sector for next summer asap!
Outside of poker enjoy sports and drinking (LAD?)
POKER
I've played poker for 4-5 years now generally not taking it very seriously. Over that time I've played Cash MTTs & SnGs both live and online.
This year I have played almost exclusively MTTs (&MTTSNGS) with these results:
Not bad but not enough!
THE GOAL
-To earn enough money in the next two months to spend the winter snowboarding in the Alps. Currently looking at Mayrhofen in Austria, and hoping to hit it up with a few guys that I know from Uni. Would be incred so hopefully can make it!
Here's one of my favorite Snowboard edit sections to get you all in the Snowboarding vibe!
I basically think I need between 3-5keu ($3.5k-5.7k) for the season depending on the work I can get out there etc. So gonna aim for the lower end, I have some money in my Poker Bankroll already ~750$ which I can withdraw at the end too. Hoping to leave at the Start of December and so the aim is:
$2750 profit in 8 weeks
which I know for most is not much but for me that's the most I've ever made in such a short period.
Poker:
My lifetime ROI is 22.5% in MTTs&MTTSnGs and so based on that along with an ABI of 10 I will need to play around 1200 games in 8 weeks. - 152games a week. This is a lot more than used to playing, if I aim to do this over 3-5 sessions that's going to be 30-50 games a sesh - is this achieveable??
In order to achieve this with that RIO I need to improve my routine so that I watch a RIO video before every session and review the session afterwards - this is crucial if I have any hope of reaching this goal. Also need to make sure that I concentrate - not getting distracted by FB or Netflix even!
OTHER GOALS
Outside of this poker goal I have a few other goals relating to different areas:
1) Job applications as mentioned hoping for a position in financial services hoping to send off 40 applications before I leave (these take ages)
2) Learn to drive - self explanatory done the theory, but the practical in that time may be a push.
3) Fitness - exercise 5x a week at least - a combination of Gym, Football and Rugby
GOALS:
$2750 Profit
1200 games
RIO video before every seesion
Review post every session
40 Job Applications
Learn to drive
Exercise 5x/week
I know this is a lot to try and achieve but lets see how we do, I have a habit of being terrible at updating things but hopefully we can keep this updated.
GL ALL and hopefully we can make it to the mountains!
Sorry for the while to reply lost track of things a bit and haven't played a ton! Missed Sunday due to a crippling hangover which was stupid.
POKER
Since the last update had some Run good:
Notable Cashes:
1st in a $500 guarantee on Tilt - $158 (late night time wasting haha)
1st in The Triceratops on Tilt - $1.6k
7th in $11 4k - $179
And here's the graph:
So obviously a really good couple of sessions, getting my biggest online cash in the Triceratops! (Felt good as I came 8th in the big Sunday edition a couple of weeks ago).
However still not really feeling great about my game; i feel i played poorly three handed in The Triceratops and ran great to end up winning it. Also made a sizable mistake on the $11FT which probably cost me a couple of ladder spots. Could really use some studying (which I haven't been doing at all tbh other than reviewing my Triceratops run)
In terms of strategy I've changed it a little, been dsing quite hard on Stars (bigger buy ins, bigger fields, lot of turbos etc), so have transferred some money to a couple of smaller sites (888, Party, Ipoker). I feel the smaller fields and better structures on tilt usually work in my favour compared to stars so hopefully can replicate that on the smaller sites.
OTHER GOALS
In terms of the other goals the results have been varied:
1) Job applications - I have a final interview with the place I was working in summer on Tuesday so have been preparing for that. Hopefully that goes well so I have one in the bag to ease the pressure!
Gonna crack on with my CV update today so i can get a lot of applications done before the end of the month
2) Driving - Sacking this off, will do it in April
3) Last week was great in terms of exercise, bit less this week as my brother took a knock playing rugby saturday but will be back on it today hitting up the gym.
PLANS
Plan is to spend today and tomorrow getting Job apps/Prep done (might watch some RIO), and then play a big session Friday night, gonna play day 1 online of the Dusk till Dawn Grand Prix (check it out here: http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/) 70£ BI with 250k guaranteed - The final day is on Sunday so fingers crossed we make it through!
GL all here's a choon ive been grinding too this week (I am not v cool)

Reason: -
Sorry for the lack of updates recently! Haven't played too much, only a couple of Sundays.
from the previous post didn't make Day 2 of the Grand Prix but got to play a Sunday instead so that's all goood! And they have been some of the most fun I've had - got to play tournies ive always wanted to via sats (215KO, Sunday Brawl, T-REX, Milly) which were super fun although I made no cashes in them!
POKER
Close but no cigar!
So although busting all the big ones made a few close exciting runs:
The last of which was bitter-sweet as it was a day-saver, but so close to the beans as 4.8kftw
Here's the hand that pretty much did it for me:
Shove on turn I think is terrible as he can have an A a lot too whihc he cant fold. I figured at the time that I have a decent few aces as well and if I am ever gonna bluff this isnt a bad hand to do it with!
Turn: (t315000) 5 (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets t502809 all in, MP1 calls t316802 all in
River: (t948604) K (2 players - 2 are all in)
Spoiler:
Final Pot: t948604
MP1 shows Ah 5s (a full house, Fives full of Aces)
Hero shows Qs Ks (two pair, Kings and Fives)
MP1 wins t948604
Anyway these deep runs are super fun so hopefully gonna keep them up was a fun 1tabling session as I watched MendaLerenda ship the 109turbo and got 2 tinder matches! #Winning
Slightly tilt that in the last month Ive had my 2 biggest FTs and come 8th in both! Ah well onwards and upwards!
Here's the graph for the last two weeks:
And since the start of the thread:
Jobs
Had the final interview last week for the place I was working at in Summer and think it went well! So fingers crossed that comes through! A lot of deadlines this week for applications so that's what I think will be taking up a lot of my time!
Finally, went drinking on sat and got offered a urban rail sesh in the winter so that would be pretty cool, will upload a vid if that ever happens; other than that here's a song:
Hi, gl with your goals man! Like the lil dicky song
The KQs I'm not sure I would have a flatting range at this stackdepth, it's likely a fine rejam depending on villain's stats. I would also be checking back turn here since KQhi might be good and you have a ton of equity anyway vs the range that's willing to fold. It's gonna make it harder to bluff rivers but I do think a check will be better. Also your sizing kind of screams flushdraw but it is a spot where you'd hate to have to make a bet-call or bet-fold decision which might be another good argument for checking back. Probably sigh-calling K river when he bets it
I'm doing the same challenge as you at the moment, but then for summer holiday, started with 50$ after two week I have 532$, GL , will follow your progress!

Anyways GL again and maybe see you at the tables
Thanks for the input man!
I think I agree with both your points here, once I reach turn I figured his range was composed of a ton of x/f hands it was difficult for him to have many hands that he continues with v a shove, (i think its possible that A5 is the only hand he's x/c this turn with) but versus that range we do have a lot of SD value so I like the x behind call river line!

Nice man! Keep crushing!
Played a short session last night and had another disappointing FT - 6th in a 5.50q - 380$ and came 13 off the money in a WPT 500 sat losing a flip zzz.
Made another mistake on the FT which cost me a place or two, guy is an aggro russian reg - I didnt want to jam pre as there were a couple of short stacks - I think the move is to fold turn, but once we call turn river is also a call.
River: (t567799) Q (2 players)
UTG bets t556132 all in, Hero folds
I think I need to keep my concentration levels up when deep and also get back to doing more studying!
Also filtered my HEM database (which is a bit useless as it misses a lot of tournies) and my win rate is between 6-8 bb/100 , which according to Pads puts me as a better reg but with a lot of room for improvement - I think this is probably optimistic, I really need to put some work in on my game over the next few weeks!
Today will be applications but might play another session tongiht as I cant stay away atm haha!
