Hello. Long time lurker here blabla..

Long story short:

Beginnings of 2020: Living by myself. 25k~Bankroll. Small winner/rakeback player at 100NL,200NL. Decent winner at 1/3NL live (even tho, who knows playing 30 hands x hour right?) Anyway, working on my game and grinding full time.

November of 2020: My bankroll and life in general get eventually busted by non-poker(mostly) related issues. With a final degen 4 table 200NL Zoom session for my remaining 1k~ bankroll.

Present day: Have not touched poker for 10 months. No longer independent. Working and living with my Father. I have some free time for the next months so I installed my good ol poker client and found 12$ and some bad memories.

Right now i cant make any significant deposit, And I am not sure i would even if i could. Ater all I never put anything more after my first 50$ deposit many years ago. So technically I still never really busted right?

I dont even know what my goals are here, get in touch with the game again? but the challenge right now is clearly to not bust, wich I am aware doesn't entirely depend on me.

I have always been a full lone wolf when it comes to poker so I decided to change that and maybe get some direct interaction with the comunity. Plus I find this situation may be interesting for some people, maybe NL2 players? I dont know, feel free to accompany me on this (maybe very short) little adventure. I'll be playing and posting every day. Posting first session atm...->

I mostly played zoom today, wich may be a bad idea considering how stupid juicy the regular tables are.

I can feel my game is degrading hand by hand. I have issues trying to balance NL2 rake with how proffitable seeing flops is. I find myself overlimping and overcalling a ton with all kinds of robust equity hands since it rarely gets punished. Should stick to nittying it out

Kinda meh so far today:

Pretty unlucky overall. But also playing poorly.

I am playing too many tables for too long. I dont feel like it is too much at first given the strategy im playing but after a while I start to drift and autopilot hard. Going to keep the tables but start taking mandatory breaks evey hour of play and see how it goes.

Hello there !

I'm not a CG player but I find your thread interesting. I hope you'll keep grinding and I can't wait to see how far you will go. Do you have even a small goal like NL100 in 6 months or something like this in mind ?

I know what it is to grind very low stakes after years spent in a higher stake
Personnally I take my motivation overall in the fact to try to super-crush my field hehe. And daily, I keep out of my autopilot by listening to motivating music, mainly hiphop. Dunno if it can work for you but it's worth a shot in case you haven't yet.

A big GL to you !

Hey! Thanks for the support

I just really don't like setting that type of goals. I guess long term the goal is to be living from poker or at least have it as proffitable side gig. In a couple of months i probably wont have the time to grind this hard, so who knows...

I've tried music while playing and it didn't work for me. I do use motivational hiphop while working out, I wish it had the same effect with poker

ok, I got you. One of the best advice a coach gave me was to have a simple and yet very effective goal for each session : to take the best decisions every hands you play. Maybe it's more fitting for you to take 1 minute before grinding and to think about the mindset you want to have. It can allow you to got high motivation and keep it that way through all the session.

About motivation you can try some hypnosis, I do some in my foreign language from times to times before a huge session or when I'm moving up the stakes. Basically I got an audio about 15 min long that was recorded by a mental coach who knows poker and through hypnosis he's putting me in a excellent mental condition (relaxed, very focus, detached from distractions...). By doing so I can bring my A-game at the very beginning of the session, so I'm taking the best decisions for every hands I play, and one of the effects is that it keeps my motivation very high. If you're interested you should google "erickson hypnosis" or "auto hypnosis" maybe.

Personnally I'm starting to grind again at low stakes by doing sometimes huge sessions (20hours and 15hours last week) and I'm taking breaks every hour. Basically I go outside and I walk while listening to music. A walking desk can do some wonders too. Well you got a lot of solutions to your problems If you really want to fix your issue you will do it !

I've read your HH, I'm amazed by your opponents haha. Can you say why you're using a solver at this level and with you being a former small winner 100NL/200NL ?

Very good luck !!!
