Hi all, I made a short thread a while ago but didn't really update it much so this year I decided to make a new one and have some new annual goals.

The goals for 2012 will be

[ ] get to 5/10 + HU
[ ] make a 100k
[ ] Win my bet against dec1 on who can make 100k first
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17.../#post30710903

atm I play mostly 100-200 HU gonna take shots at 400nl soon. so in theory I should win the bet pretty easily but he's planning on playing 100k hands this month so we'll see how much he moves up by then.

here's last month's graph, didn't have the time to play much but still up decent amount

For January my goals are
[ ] 100 hours
[ ] profit
[ ] finish reading "the mental game of poker"
[ ] apply techniques to improve my mental game

blah crappy first day of 2012

Had one fish godmoding me, lost about $700 to him on €100nl, had a lot of 2nd nuts running into his nuts, then later played another session, where I was mostly card dead and they kept folding when I had a hand. But thanks to the mental preparation I didn't tilt at all , so I will keep reading and doing the exercises.

graph for the day

pretty funny hand, guy was such a weird player, when he was minbetting he was mostly weak so I just decided to 'slowplay' then on the river he checks to me and I decide to induce and he completely spazzes out

didnt play many hands today, was in the middle of a session then had to help a friend with something, so only ended up playing 2 hours

      here's some hands

feel free to comment on it

biggest losing hand, pretty much a cooler, I think on the river he could still have enough 9x hands to make it a profitable call, so dont think I can fold

Not too sure about this one, villain was unknown, pretty early in the match, but he took an awful long time to raise after I made it half pot on the turn, so thought it looked kind of fishy and decided to call

Been reading some more in "the mental game of poker " too been really helping me out so far, I barely tilt, almost half way through now, hopefully I'll finish it soon.

Also made a video to review my play so hopefully I can find some more leaks and maybe some more optimal lines.

ugh, played some HU at first then later at night some 6max due to lack of HU action, I ran awful, its sick how bad I run this year, but never did I run as bad as in that 6max session, probably wont be playing any 6max for a while because it's the most boring game ever. I'd rather play less HU hands than get frustrated all the time by the slow placed game that is 6max, now I know why I switched to HU again.

So the first week I played about 15 hours, which is like 10 hour short from the perfect amount so far. Not the best because I could have definitely played more, but there were some unsuspected things I had to do which were partly the reason for my lack of volume. I think setting up a strict schedule every day except for monday (my break day) will be good.

Also for now I think I'll try to not look at my results for a week to prevent myself from becoming more results oriented. I've done this before for almost an entire month and it helped me out tremendously. It's also a lot more fun to see your graph after a longer period of time instead of watching at it everyday. So to spice things up in this thread I'll just post some hands every time and my progress in skill and mental game.

The latter has been going really well lately, while trying to apply the concepts in the book, I noticed not only my mental game improved, but also my general poker skills all together. A lot of the concepts are even applicable to daily life, so pretty glad I got the book.

Had a pretty good day, lots of grinding, and I think some pretty good results, though I'm not exactly sure how much it is, because I promised myself not to look at my results until the end of the week.

I've noticed so far that by doing this, I can focus much better on my play and my emotional state during play is much more stable, all because I don't know if I'm up or down. Of course I still have a slight indication, but just the simple fact that I don't know the exact number, makes it so much easier to focus for me. Hopefully I can keep up.

Sounds like you have been working pretty hard on the mental side of things. You have inspired me to order Jared Tendler's book as well, it sounds like essential reading.

              thanks

I bought HM2 today been testing it out and accidentally saw my graph when I was messing around with the options a bit, still need to get used to it but seems to be working pretty smooth, its much faster than HM1.

might as well post the update

as you can see I got out of the red so hopefully can keep it up, some of that loss was from 6max so wont be playing that for a while, cause I feel so confused sometimes. Planned in 28 hours for this week, so far on schedule played about 7.5

been trying out this new schedule of less play throughout the week and more in the weekends when action is best

I take monday off, then tuesday - thursday try to play a minimum of 10hours so about 3.3 per day, and friday-sunday 15 hours, 5 hours a day, which brings the total to 25. Now since I missed out on about 10 hours last week, I'll have to redistribute them over the next 3 weeks, so have to add about 3 hours per week, which comes down to about half an hour more per day, not too bad.

It's actually the first time I'm using this schedule, so not sure how this works out, might make some changes next month if this doenst work out or if Iwant to put in more volume.

Yesterday was my first big grind day really swingy so far, been playing a lot more regs to improve, because I have some coaching session coming up, and its a bit mixed results, definitely helped me identify some leaks I have. Been mostly 2 tabling them though, just to get used to playing regs again, might start adding more once I feel more comfortable in my game.

                  here's yesterday's graph

as you can see friday the 13th wasn't that positive for me , but looking forward to grinding a ton more today. The only thing that's bothering me is that I get these pains in my right arm, might have something to do with my posture, so i'm trying ways to fix it, maybe cleaning up my desk to give me more space will help

So the weekend ended up being pretty disastrous, I was playing a bit more regs and it went pretty decent, but then ended up donating everything to fish again. Had some reloading fish a few times, who ended up winning most of their losses back after their 3rd reload lol.

Then this monday had a coaching session set up, and it was exactly what I needed, found out some old leaks were creeping in my game again, so had to plug those. Been going pretty well after that, I feel like I have a much better understanding about poker again

Some hands I thought would be interesting to post

I noticed his halfpot bets were mostly for thin value, which is why I think I cant call the river, however I think I would get a decent amount of folds if i raise.

Turn bet might be a bit thin, but I think on the river once he doesnt raise me I can make him fold alot of medium pairs and possibly some weak aces, though he ended up calling with one, which was somewhat surprising

Same guy, this was maybe a few hands after the other one, thought he might give me some more respect. If I remember correctly he tanked a while before calling, though I'm not sure what to think of his play, seems a bit thin too me

this was was pretyt nice, been 3betting him a lot, he ended up calling prety quickly pre, then minraised the flop, I thought he was FOS a lot of hte times here, then when I hit the river, I thikn checking is better than betting, he has mostly nothing on the flop when he raises, so its not like I can valuebet here especially when he checks back the turn, so I thnk check to induce is better, and he ends up spazzing like I expected
