I have done several of these PG&Cs before, you can easily find them if you would like more background.

I was playing fully backed in 2018-2020, but struggled to balance the grind with life (got married, moved across the county, etc). Since then I have played off and on the past two years, selling action to my backer having numerous close calls, but ultimately never really binking anything substantial that might allow me to play full time again. Which brings me to now, I am driving from BC to Ontario for 3 weeks on August 15th (5 months) with my wife and dog for her sister's wedding and a vacation. Instead of playing once or twice a week, loading when needed and kind of hoping to bink something as I have been, I decided after watching Ata, Conor and MBen do bankroll challenges, I would attempt one myself.

It will be done in two phases. I will do $1000-$5000 on my own dime. I'll likely start out around 150 buy-ins and avoid huge fields. As we climb, I will go closer to 200 BIs and maybe more if we get to Phase II.

The second phase will be from $5000 to $20000. For this phase, I plan to sell 25% of my action to my backer. My goal is to complete this by August 14th (the day before I leave for my trip, which just also happens to be a Sunday). Once the goal is completed, I will send the $5000 to my backer for his cut, take $5000 with me on the trip and leave $10K behind for a full time roll for September when I return home. If this is successful, I may do a new thread for $10K to $100K or something similar.

I don't plan to post anything too exciting in here, maybe a HH or two, but mostly just lobby porn and daily/monthly results to keep myself accountable to the limits and the grind.

I could load a little bit more, but the key is to try to make sure I don't need the money as I don't want to do any cash outs until I get to $20K. I will be playing on Stars, GG and partypoker for now, though I may add 888 into the mix at some point, too.

First session will be tomorrow at 8 AM. I plan to grind 5 days per week, avoiding Sundays at first likely. Once I get the bankroll up a bit, I will add Sundays back into the mix.

So you'll be mostly playing online? Cash or Tourneys? Sounds like Tournaments

Why sell action? Won't it just be easier to just play with your own money. Plus you pocket more if you win? I only play cash so if you're talking about tourneys makes more sense I suppose

Stay motivated, make sure you study a lot and don't pay heed to short term results too much.

Yes, I will be exclusively playing online MTTs for this challenge. I've been playing for about 15 years. All sorts of different things, though exclusively MTTs for the past decade.

I am selling action for Phase II because I have a prior arrangement with my old backer that I am using this challenge to help finish along with building a bankroll. I will go back on my own and sell action to individual tourneys in Phase III if we manage to complete this.

Sad end: losing JJ < AQ in a BvB spot deep in the Super 11.

Lots of runs, nothing inside final 3 tables though as I ran quite bad ITM today. So I'll take a small win for Day 1 and be happy.

I will say, my ABI was slightly higher than planned, for now I like the schedule and will keep it a little over $7, but if I start out swinging down, I'll likely remove some $11s at that point to extend the roll.

Another solid grind that ended without any joy. Continuing to run decent enough to build stacks and terrible late in the money. Oh well, evbb is a solid 10+ to start, so eventually the profit will come. Back tomorrow for session #3.

If the numbers are a bit off between the bankroll and the profit/loss amounts, it's because I am rolling any rakeback into the bankroll for now, that could change once I am at higher limits, though. We'll see. Either way, the "Bankroll" number above reflects the actual funds available for tourneys.

I love when you post this in the MTT blogs! A legit PGC legend is in the thread.

MTTs are the same as cash, because it's all poker, luck only matters in the short run. Manage your roll and put the volume in and plenty of money to be made in them.

I played cash for the first ten years of my career (splitting time between MTTs and cash for about 5 of them) and I found it boring, which lead to a lack of volume, which of course, lead to a distinct lack of money haha.

Brutal day. Running terrible to start the challenge sadly, but comes with the territory. A lot of 2 outers today, big pairs just no good. And to make matters worse I am having the double punishment of my bust outs coming either in like 10th to 30th and missing out on the final table or like 25 spots and in before the money, so I am missing out on min cashes too.

But good volume. Good focus. High evbb/100 again. So I'll just keep grinding away.

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I am off to do some family stuff. Back Friday for session #4.

Haha yeah I do do that don't I? Just trying to steer all the tourney players in the right direction. But yeah tourneys are fun so do whatever you enjoy the most and can grind the hardest and good luck doing it. Bink something big, it's fun. I will be following.

No, I won't be playing any of the massive games today as I only play Sundays when I make a Day 2 of something for now. My goal is to keep my field size reasonable and grind out a profit and move up stakes, so Sundays are a good meal prep/laundry day for me.

OK, the first week will end with 86 games over 3 sessions due to my birthday festivities and my skipping Sundays. Not terrible, the sessions I played were solid grinds even if we ran bad.

This week, we will kick things into the next gear with 5+ sessions starting tomorrow! Looking forward to it.
