Always take more than 1. If you get it in with AA pre and someone sucks out on you, you have to go home.

Totally agree, but only if you can mentally and emotionally handle this and continue to play your best game. If you think you might be tilted slightly, go home and come back fresh.

I'm dealing with a GF who I love very much but really doesn't get it. I've gotten to the point where I just avoid talking about it altogether whenever possible. Might not be the all around best solution....but it works....for now

Listen. You have to do everything possible to explain to her how playing poker professionally works. There is no way you are going to make it if you five all your winning to your GF. If she still doesn't get it after a LONG, SINCERE, HEARTFELT talk about what you are doing, then I'm sorry buddy, but you have to get a new girlfriend, if you REALLY want to go pro.

Is this where we blog about our winrates?

Just started playing this month after a 2 year break from poker (since black friday).
Played nl100/200 6max and nl100/200/400/some600 HU on FTP for a modest winrate.

Decided to give 1/2/2 a try for pretty much my first time at a casino.
Found a bunch of leaks during my first 100 hours, but have also run quite bad.

-$132 over 99.5 hours. Still optimistic; have run much worse before. (And this is like 4000 hands?)

Foldstein,

I can't/won't play $100 max games in LA anymore. The rake makes the game practically unbeatable no matter how bad the players are.

Biggest leaks for online players to live is not dumbing down play. You really have to ****** your play to be profitable at llsnl. Just remember that there is no fold equity, value town the piss out of calling stations, etc.

In other words be more nittish and bet/fold until the cows come home.

Also, stay focused...which is easier said than done for online players playing live. Live reads (dynamic driven more than actual eating oreo reads driven) are something I ignored at first but have proven quite useful over time.

I mean honestly that's not horrible. You are tracking and you are even, so you are above 80% of the posters in this forum I'd say.

A good estimate of hands per hour is 30...though it can be a bit higher as I believe one of our mods tracked it a few months back for some time and got some surprising results.

What about buying in for a 100$ like 2/3 game at the bike.

I play 1/3 at morongo I buyin for a 100$ and crush. But if you can buy in for more that's obviously better.

Do you play hg/cc 3/5? That game is just enough to beat the rake.

I'm in a very similar spot. I'm up 160ish over 110 hours. This includes a lot of old sessions where I hadn't done much studying. I feel optimistic as well and you definitely be breakeven/stuck if you run bad in a couple big pots early.

Yeah, my biggest leak was definitely giving people too much credit. 90% have no idea what they're doing or what your range for common situations is. If you're tight you always have high cards

This is pretty difficult at times, especially when you're not getting hands to play. I miss being able to not pay attention and then check what happened after the hand is done

From what I've read of this thread, only winners were posting results. Figured I'd post my results for science.

Hey win: Most dudes that come from an online have 2 problems.

1 Over aggro pre and willing to stack off WAY too light. I am sure this is especially true for you coming from 6 max/ HU. At 1/2 virtually no one 4 bet bluffs (handful at 2/5). There is literally zero hj/co/blind dynamic where you will be fistpumping getting hands like AK or TT in pre.

2 Getting bored and playing crap oop and convincing themselves that every 1 sux soooo much that it doesnt matter b/c "I can outplay 'em all post flop"

take care of those 2 and you will be stomping soon enuf!

I also bring 5 BI (and I'm just a rec player).

3 or less is bad, imo, as there's just too great a chance that you'll eventually run into a spot where you'll be playing a non-topped up shortstack (which is horrible strategy against a typical moron-filled field).

i dont tilt much ... im fully capable of folding aces OTT or OTR when i know theyre beat .... and i LOL at the droOlers that over bet JJ pre cause they say they hate em...and same player may flat with AK and say they hate that hand too...i subscribe to raising all my rasing hands about the same table dynamics dictate what that number is ... but weather 9Ts oTB or AA from UTG

2/5 NL regs are getting better at poker, and there are more 5/10 NL pros who have downgraded to 5/5 NL and 2/5 NL recently.

If the current trend continues, the MAX win-rate for 2/5 NL will end up being $40/hour (end of 2014) for the vast majority of 2/5 NL "pros."
