2/5 NL

Hero on button with AQsd ($500)

Limp from CO ($800)
Hero raises to $25
CO calls

Flop ($55):
AQ5dxd

CO checks
Hero bets $30
CO raises to $75
Hero ???

Just sat down at the table, but CO has been very sticky through 10 hands. He's played a majority of them and had one hand where he flat called for $15 with AA against 3 other players.

I don't expect any players in this game to be raising with any kind of flush/straight draw, Ax, or Qx. Is it best just to flat and raise turn or raise now to pump more value into the pot?

Vs. this player type (although 10 hands tells you very little), I flat and see a turn. Why do you think nobody raises with flush draw after 10 hands?

It's not from this table in particular, it's just the prevailing theme I see with 2/5 and 5/5 games across California.

Oh, I just realized the A on the flop is the Ad. I agree he's probably flatting w/ KdXd.

I still flat because he should only have 55 to beat us (if he has AA or QQ, it sucks) and if he's sticky, we want to keep his worse hands in. And he's obviously never folding 55 (most likely )

I haven't played in SoCal in 2+ years, but I think you're wrong about 2/5 players not bluff raising and reraising with a nut flush draw. The majority won't, but most of the 2/5 games I play in have 1 or 3 guys who do this as a matter of routine, and I'm one of them. Some regs I know do it every time, some do it more strategically.

You just sat down, he might be testing you. I think you bought in with a short stack of $500. Isn't max buy $800 or $1000? If so, you look timid. He might be thinking he can make you fold TPTK, especially if a diamond turns.

Regardless, with only a $500 stack and Top2, I'm not going to hesitate to risk it all and it shouldn't be too hard to get it all in. If you were deep stacked, that would complicate matters a little.

I would tank-call his raise, pray I didn't see a turn diamond, and expect him to bet the turn. If the turn is a d, I call. Most anything else, I bet 120% of pot if he checks the turn or raise all in if he leads out. The overbet is because he is sticky; I'm hoping he calls.
