Just sat down for the BB I am now the BTN ... the VERY hand before this same SB makes what I would say is a thin value bet on the river with 2/3rd pair against medium to short stack on scary board

$1/2NL full ring UTG straddles
7 limpers to the flop

I'm on the button with 9

.... stacks are pretty deep (loose CO has about 300BB SB has about 150BB)

Flop comes

SB quickly fires off for $20 folds back to me ... I decide to make it $55 ... he thinks for a bit and raises to $125 ... I ask for a count he has about ~$135 back ... ???

My call PF kinda bothers me ... also wondering was my flop play spewy?

Against a range of sets, 2p, SD, and FD with a face (which is as many as I was willing to type into stove) you have 63% equity. I like a shove here.

Your equity will prob be lower among hands that call, but your FE should make up for that.

And from Villain history, he's making thin value bets.. could be seen as him over-valuing hands. I wouldn't discount even an A9 K9 from his range. I mean, this board doesn't hit too many 2-pair combos, he might think you're the one drawing. With those hands added to his range, it's a clear shove.

95o isn't a hand I even complete from the SB let alone play in a straddled pot. I hate to fall into the fold pre camp, because I like to play hands but this is a definite fold pre.

As played, ship the flop. So many cards can come to cost you on the turn or river. At least getting it in here means you are (probably) getting it in good.

You can't raise-fold top two on this sort of flop, so get it in.

I love the button as much as the next guy, but this is one of the hands I'm mucking pre even in a limped pot.

You may be the first person to ever call me a nit. Thanks. I don't think not playing a non-suited, 4-gapper counts as nitty though. If you saw me play 3/4, 3/5, 2/4, etc., to raises, you might change your mind.

top two pair on that flop is the nuts, cry if you ran into 44(cry for your call pre first), and we have blockers to 99 and 55... I dont see how this is anything but a ship?

Oh and i pray he has 9-4 not 6d-7d, lol.

I love Schawarmas. They are not good for me. If you are playing for fun and want to play hands but in a not to spewy way, then limp. You really are not going to make money doing it though.

LOL - I hope either:

- there is either a lot of history between you two
- this nittiness can be seen from all his prior posts (I'm relatively new and not going to bother checking his prev. posts)
- this is a level

I think calling 9/5 o in a straddled pot without any ridiculously strong reason is horrendous (sorry button alone is not even close to enough). And no, I am not even close to a nit.

You have him crushed or did he have a set? His lead for $20 into $28 dosent seem to be a FD although you can't rule it out obv.
