Hi all,

This is a hand category I am ambivalent about. Do you play suited Kx with bad kicker for the flush potential? Or just fold pre? Raise CO/BTN? I’m talking K8/9 and below. May be table dependent of course.

Sometimes I play these hands, usually when limped to me in LP. I recently folded suited K3 in the BB to a raise. Would have had the nut flush on the turn. Was kinda tilting.

Thanks,
DT

I tend to limp SB or button in multiway hands with this type of hand and look to occasionally 3-bet an LP raiser with it. It blocks KK and AK so can be used as a preflop aggressive bluffing hand while still having some equity when called somewhat similar to Axs.

Would open all suited kings on the button, but probably not elsewhere unless the blinds were notoriously weak or the button was telegraphing fold.

Oh and I'm talking K8s-. Would play K9s slightly more often

Well as a guide, in heads up they make a great 3bet bluff hand, the reason being we blofk LK,AK and KQ, can make a very showdownable top pair, good flushes etc, but also you don't mind folding to a 4bet.

So in short, if someone is overfolding to 3bets, or giving up very easily post, sprinkle this one in occasionally.

Since OP plays short-stacked most of the time, he should be folding these hands almost always.

For those of us who play in deeper no fold-em games, they can be overlimped in late pos or out of the blinds, and ocassionally opened if no one limped and we are in late position. They should almost never flat a raise, imo, especially from the blinds.

Oh yes I mean deeper stacked not as a shorty. Thanks.

In the better games of the past in my room (i.e. more passive preflop and more payoffy postflop, I used to always play Kxs in LP and sometimes even in EP (mostly always just trying to get into a limped pot). Now I easily dump it in EP, and even typically dump it in LP. My guess is that it's likely close on the Button, but probably not worth the aggravation. There's a massive difference between Axs and Kxs since Axs never has to worry about RIO whereas Kxs does.
