Straight, montone flop, did I play this wrong? Straight, montone flop, did I play this wrong?

Situation was I am playing $1/2 with a stack of $350, been playing fairly tight the whole night and only went to showdown twice; once with KK other time with nut flush.

Anyways in this hand I had 6-7 and was in CO. Had 3 limpers in front of me and dealer raises to $12, SB and BB calls and so do the other 3 limpers. I call as well.

We see the flop (7 way) which is 6-7-8, don't like the flop I'm wary that someone might have the flush or straight. But action checks round to me and I'm thinking its unlikely that someone (except dealer) has a straight since they didn't bet to protect. Only possibility is slow playing flush and since I wanted to know where I am out and was thinking that if I could turn/river a full-house I'd get good implied odds.

So I bet $50 into the ~$90 pot. Dealer calls (stack has ~$200 left), everyone folds except for CO+1 (stack has ~$150 left) who calls.

Turn comes 9, CO+1 checks again. I check since raising wouldn't achieve much I felt with their stack sizes and the high possibility of someone holding a straight. Dealer shoves all-in and CO+1 instant calls, I was sure I was beat so I fold.

Question is whether my flop bet was bad play or not since it was a 7 way pot and on a monotone and possible straight flop am I beat for sure? Or should I still bet to see where I stand and I might get value out of chasers and potential of getting full-house?

Here's the problem. Don't bet because you want to know where you are in the hand. On this uber wet board, you have no hope of pushing 6 people out. Yes you have 2 pair, but it is a weak hand in this situation.

You are aware that you only have 4 outs to hit a FH, don't you? Less than 10% of the time you hit it. No one's stack is big enough to pay you off even if they do stack off to give you implied odds.

Check it. There is no card to come that helps you and induces action from someone else. You aren't pushing anyone out, and with 6 people hanging around that pot, someone has something more than likely. By betting, you are simply building a pot for someone else.

yea i just read the forum post about "betting to know where you're at" didn't think of it in that perspective will be a new concept for me to get my head around.

and also if i check and dealer bets flop do I call or fold? I don't feel comfortable to be calling this flop since it feels anyone can draw me out even if they don't beat me already or maybe i just have cannot-fold-any-sort-of-set disease...

thanks for the feedback.

If it were heads up that would be one thing but with 7 people in I'd just check fold the flop. Bottom two is not a good hand on that board with so many people in.
