Should you bet to protect your pair? Should you bet to protect your pair?

I was dealt 10 3 in BB position.
I get to see the flop which is 10 X X

I don't remember why, but I checked.
I guess I didn't have top pair, else why wouldn't I bet??

Everyone checks the flop.
Turn is another 10.
I bet $5 and everyone folds

Was there a major blunder here?

Impossible to say with such limited information. Don't know level, # of players, villain types, or even the actual flop!

FWIW, $5 seems like a tiny bet...maybe you are playing .5/$1 then it might be ok. On flop, check folding with T3 on a TXX board is generally standard..

I often just check here and see what happens. Of course it depends on the number of limpers. Too often if you bet like $10 a couple of fishies will call with their whole range because duh it's only $10. Then you have no idea where you are on the turn and hate a lot of turn cards. I guess I just hate messing around with weak hands in tiny pots.

If it checks around and there is a safe turn you can now make a small bet and probably take it down. On this hand when you make trips and if there are no draws out there you can probably slow play and hope someone takes a stab at it.
