2/5, 1100 eff

V1 - ep. I have abt 6 hrs of play with him. Seems like a solid tag, loves polarizing on the river. I have seen him show up with a lot of bluffs in those spots but in HU pots. He is seemingly all in once an hour. He is running like GOD today and getting paid. We have not got involved in a hand in the 3 hrs we have played together this session as he has been regularly folding to my 3bets.

V2 - sb. decent recreational tag that understands theory and can get out of line often.

V1 opens to 20, I flat otb w black 22, V2 flats, fish in bb flats

80-QT2r

Checks to V1 who bets 40, H calls, V2 calls, bb folds. On this rainbow board I dont have many strong hands so I elected to just call, knowing my opponents are decently aware of ranges and are capable hand readers.

200-Kr

V2 leads for 110, V1 calls, H calls. Looks like V2 just hit a 2 pair as he should look to x/call or x/raise with the straight. V1 flatting can mean he has pair plus draw, two pair, or the nuts. I dont love this spot now and can't feel too comfy when the board pairs either.

530-6

V2 bets 250, V1 tanks for 30 seconds, checks his cards then looks at the board one more time and pushes 2k over the line. Looks stoic. Both me and V2 have about 900 behind. V2 looks like he has a good 2pair. What do we make of V1 shove three ways when V2 seems capped and I have underrepped my holding? Does he have enough bluffs? Im at top of range but does it matter? His range is AJ or blockers to AJ imo. Sets and 2pairs are happy to call and realize because H is last to speak and can certainly have a straight.

I get the Flop, but what’s your rationale for not raising the Turn?

As played, I think River is a fold. You pretty much would need them both to be bluffing for your hand to be good now? And I don’t think you have a good enough price for it. Lack of a flush draw on flop pushes me into the fold column.

Against a strong player, I don't slow play sets OTF. Against typical opponents, I would have waited for the turn, but not against V1 as described.

I have found that never slowplaying bottom set is a great rule of thumb. There are so many top pair, draws and pair plus draws and people are so loose, prints money.

Preflop is standard. Flop is wet enough you could raise, QT allows for a couple of straight draw or pair+backdoor draw hands. I still prefer a call on the flop though because hero has position and both villains have to go first on the turn. I would like V1 to take another stab with weak and moderate single pairs that are going to give up as soon as hero raises.

Turn is an awkward card. Bad for your range and makes getting paid when you do have the best hand hard. I don't think a flat call is wrong but a raise to $300 works also. It would take a very strong hand for villain to continue betting given the board and action in that situation. This is both getting value from some two pair hands and possibly buying hero a chance to check behind on the river.

As played I like a tight fold on the river. V1 put both of you all in when either of you could have a straight. Both AJ and J9 are possible so there are multiple ways any of you could have a straight.

I also like a tight fold. Im guessing he shows KQ or worse a small percentage of the time but ithink 80% you are crushed
