The fact is that you personally don't have any answers either, so perhaps drop your attitude? Just a thought...

Most models are converging.

The only **** model, generally, is the one that tried to curve-match against wuhan and italy curves.

The curve is flattened... now what?

Well it's illegal for me to see friends and family in person, I got the second half of my final semester taken away from me, I didn't get to go on my senior trip to the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, it looks like my favorite season of the year (college football) is either happening in the fall with no fans, or in the spring with no fans, my favorite non-sport leisure activity got taken from me (going to the movies), my nightly routine (going to play poker live) got taken from me, I can't go to the gym (though I've found working at home is much better), it's illegal to socialize with other people, I can't go to the bar, I can't go to the club, etc.

It's pretty fair to say that the government has greatly impacted my day to day life, which is especially hard for someone with autism, in which a routine is everything...Breaking one thing in my routine can have huge negative impacts on my mental health, and now everything is taken from me, and the government is showing no signs of going back.

This is why I got so excited that the Wisconsin Supreme Court stepped in and said "yeah, you can't do this to people."

I think we should go back to as normal as possible without getting the hospitals overcrowded. If we can go back to complete normal (which I concede I have no clue if this is the case), and the hospitals won't reach full capacity, then let's get on that ASAP. If we can go back to the exact normal, with the exception that businesses require groups to say six feet apart, and that's what it'll take to make sure the hospitals don't reach full capacity, let's get on that ASAP.

All I see are a bunch of politicians saying "here, take this money, we're not opening until we have a vaccine." **** that. I hope the US Supreme Court steps in and ends this madness everywhere.

Oh, and 20% unemployment is a silver lining? Come on man. This is gonna get worse than the Great Depression if the courts don't step in.

I also agree with GG that this better not set a precedent for the next pandemic.

If it makes you feel better, my South Park SARS "soon only 96.5% of us will be left alive" reference at the beginning of all this didn't get seen as a good bright side comment either.

I've seen zero politicians saying we're not opening until we have a vaccine. Where did you see that?

I mean, I've seen a lot saying "it's too soon," but even if you disagree with that it doesn't imply "not until there's a vaccine."

Then what the **** are they waiting for? The curve has been flattening for weeks, and hospitals aren't overrun, so they lied about that...I can't imagine what else they could be waiting for

dude, this is like saying I didn't get pregnant or catch the hiv when i used a condom so let's do away with those pesky condoms

i don't understand how it is you're unable to see that the only reason why the hospitals and morgues aren't overrun is specifically due to the lockdown not in spite of the lockdown

Honest answer, I think most politicians are mostly afraid of being blamed if things go poorly.

That said, when you're in a no-win situation, it makes sense to listen to the experts you trained and paid for this kind of stuff, not just because then you have your ass somewhat covered if things go poorly, but because even with the very shaky data that we have so far, experts can make more sense of this than frustrated folks with no training.

I think a lot of the politicians are hoping for a near-term major improvement in treatment too, such as remdesiver (or however it's spelled). If the CFR goes way down, this whole thing will be a lot less scary.

Just guessing, though, I'm neither a politician nor an epidemiologist.

Do you have proof that if Michigan opened up right now that the hospitals would become overrun?

I completely agree that they're worried. They don't want to lose re-election, which is why it's being handled like this.

Hopefully we get better treatments, yes.

Do you have proof that if you rawdog the next girl you see that she won't get pregnant or give you an STD? The chances are against it, so why not?

I mean, rick's not necessarily correct that the hospitals 100% would have been overrun without the lockdown, given how much people's behavior changed in the lead up to it, but the fact that the hospitals aren't over-run is not a sign that the lockdown was unnecessary. We'll never know what things would have looked like without it.

Were you alive during 9/11? Was a crazy time. So much patriotism, people signing up to go fight, everyone sucking America's dick. We grounded flights for like a week! Never Forget!

2,977 people died. Yesterday, 1772 americans died. We're at 1402 so far today. So that is what, roughly one plane into a tower every day? Wooo make America 9/11'd again!

But basketball. Basketball is whats important.

ps I get autism and routine, and yes this is very disruptive and that sucks. Death is also very disruptive and also sucks. Do you have a weighted blanket? Some good stim toys?

I had just turned three. I'm glad you brought it up though, because there were so many liberty violations. The Patriot Act still exists more or less!

I am not saying the two are the same, but think of all of the people that died from the flu yesterday...I don't want to overrun hospitals. However, if hospitals aren't overrun, I don't see why we aren't re opening. It's sad, but people will die from this.

I love sports. I don't see the big deal. If filling Michigan Stadium will mean hospitals get overrun, then have the season with no fans. I'll frown that I don't get to go to games, but having 200 people in the stadium won't overrun hospitals.

I don't have a weighted blanket, but I did do research and it appears they are very beneficial to autistic people so o might have to order one!

Not a toy, but stimulation via pacing has always worked, making life more exciting in good times, or easing anxiousness in bad times.

Damn... That 9/11 comparison really drives the point home doesn't it?

Luckily now we have TSA officers touching your genitals in public, and forcing octogenarians to prove they can walk up to the rapescan machine before we can board a plane.

Yup, let's make sure we are flexible and be willing to give up a few things so folks can feel safe.

Perhaps we should bring back Nancy Reagan's Just say no campaign?

Since you kids can't be trusted to practice proper social distancing, wear rubbers (and don't do drugs), you're forcing us to shut down the economy, put 30m people out of work.

All you have to do so people can go back to work is make sure you wrap it up.

The deaths are preventable... You do a _REAL_ quarantine for 6-8 weeks, which brings the number of cases way down because it isn't getting spread. Then you do contact tracing and quarantine for any new cases that pop up.

It would require a social safety net, so people could live for two months without working. It would require a competent government organization to organize the contact tracing and quarantine. So it'll not happen and we'll just sacrifice a bunch of poor, mostly black and brown people so that stonks go up and Karen can get her hair cut.

The Senate has a bill to beef up the Patriot Act and allow access to your search history without a warrant. How is that not the most pressing concern to liberty at the moment?

Actually...

Stocks are up pretty big since the 17-Mar onset of most of the existing quarantines.

The people most at risk seem to be obese males with low testosterone.

And Karen pays $60+20tip to Janette for her haircut, and Janette uses the money to buy food for her kids... What a *****.
