Well, I think the lockdown will make a difference.

I just came across this chart tool on the NY Times which shows how the spread of the disease is affected depending on when and what kind of social distancing measures are taken.

Left without intervention, the disease would have infected 100 million by July killing 1 million people.

I’d be happy with that gloating because that means we did the right thing.

Okie Dokie, Galaxy s20 has been pretty great so far. I went with the ultra which apparently has camera features ill probably never use, but other than that not a ton more than the regular. Probably lit $200 on fire but such is life.

User interaction is super fast, have no idea about 5g bc we're on wifi most of the time. Sharp screen, super fast processing, plenty of storage, and a bunch of bells and whistles if you're into that.

Haven't really used or found all of the features but so far so good. 4rum, PokerStars, chess.com, and work apps all function well so I'd call it a success.

Just to keep it simple let's say at that time 1 BTC = $1k. Now it takes time for that 1BTC Ignition cashed out to hit your BTC wallet. It also takes time for you to notice when it gets there and then convert it to cash.

Now in that time the price of 1BTC will be doing whatever it does. And it is a possibility that at the time you transfer to cash itonly equals $700 because grandpa sheit his pants that day.
This

For example, in the bitcoin thread someone right now did this exact thing recently and basically lost half it's value in the time it took to get in his account.

Bitcoin transactions are slow AF.

Of course you could end up doubling your money as well - that's what the more optimistic people will tell you.

But gold/silver/crypto are all plummeting because people want hard currency they can spend on toilet paper on amazon.

Read some of the threads here about people grinding micros. Most would probably be winning players in 25/50 and higher games live but are grinding micros online because they have horrible lifestyle decisions and aren't rolled for anything beyond NL25 etc etc.

They are all massively talented but got issues outside of poker like extreme poverty, abused as a child or just degenerate drug addicts that keeps them down in the micros.

I'm shocked. I've had multiple MBPs over the years from work and am a total believer. I think their phones are hot garbage but I like their machines.

Ignition banned HUDs yeah. My terminology is just off.

I think browni is right about the difference between stat tracking/database software and HUD. But you can do both using Drive HUD, poker tracker, hold em manager etc.

Does anybody know why I still have all the bars pop up telling me VPIP, PFR, AGG, 3-bet% for myself and all villains at the table when I play SNGs (HU or otherwise) on ignition? Am I cheating?

As the article states, this depends on just how aggressive of a lockdown we have. In Italy they began a country-wide quarantine on March 9th in which police set up checkpoints and fined people 206 euro if they leave their homes without justification (groceries, emergency) and charged up to 12 years for homicide if they show positive for infection. I don't think our country will be that aggressive that quickly, and I think we still have enough people that still think it's a hoax and potentially continue to act as super spreaders way way too late in the breakout. Once this thing takes off I think there's a chance we fare a bit worse than Italy will. We'll end up doing half measures in comparison and it won't be enough.

On a related note, aren't there still going to be elections in the coming week?

another 349 died in last 24hours so over 2k now

they'll exceed China in total deaths by the end of the week

most deaths china had in a day was 150, Italy has been over that every day for a week straight now and the numbers keep rising

no clue honestly. Leaving everyone in the dark. “Fluid situation” has been getting thrown around by university prez a lot.

I’ve never even come close to failing a class but I’m not exactly sure how we’re going to be able to do some of our assignments listed on the syllabus virtually.

Finance professors seem to be above being lenient, even if the sky is falling- which it kind of is

My logic was that time in the market beats timing the market and no one has a crystal ball. Money is easy to make through pokering anyways.
If you bought the S&P 500 at the peak in 2000 you would have had a 12.5 year break even stretch (ignoring dividends). With the Nasdaq it would have been more like 16 years.

Hell, from the peak in 1929 to the beginning of 1985 the S&P 500 was breakeven. That's over 55 years. Of course dividends were more important back then so I'm sure the breakeven stretch was actually much less than that but still it shows how important it is to not pay too much for investments. That's why Warren Buffett's company has been sitting on $128 billion in cash. It's also why, despite being the largest investor in Coca Cola (KO) he hasn't bought a share of it in the last 25 years.

BTW, Japan's stock index (Nikkei) hit it's high back in 1989 at 38,916. It is currently at 17,125.

Dollar Cost Averaging is very important especially for passive investing where you don't know the true value of what you are buying. We expect the market will most likely go up over time but there can be a lot of bumps along the way. DCA helps protect you from that variance.

The stock market was due for a 15 to 20% correction even without the pandemic. It had made quite a run in 2019 and to start 2020 and was quite expensive. One could argue that the bull market of the last decade was primarily a result of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates (along with quantitative easing) and can't imagine there will be much more rate cutting now that they've slashed interest rates all the way to zero.

Transfers take time and bitcoin prices can move fast. It could actually help move in your favor..ie you transfer $500 and it suddenly becomes $700.

I have enough money to survive about a year, maybe a little more, but very uncomfortable situation. This would also mean I'd primarily be tapping into my poker banrkoll, and to see that go to $0 would be devastating to a point that I don't know if I could handle that. I'm scared. I know this is going to sound like whining and that my situation isn't unique, but I'm pretty beat. I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself.
This year is a tough time to graduate. Maybe U Michigan career services is giving advice, or will help when job hiring begins again. In the mean time, I suppose the only thing you can do now is increase your skills either to make yourself more employable in the future or to get better at poker (ie play online).

UFC is postponing the 3 events prior to Tony vs Khabib. They say Tony vs Khabib is still on, just not in the US. I figured they would likely move it to Saudia Arabia or UAE. Who knows if it will still happen though. It's possible all travel could be shut down then.

Covid19 affected me today when my best friend from childhood and best man at my wedding told me he came in direct contact with a likely virus vector.

His stepmom is a nurse who was treating ER patients this weekend. She feared one had Covid19 and she tried to confirm with her attending doctor. He wouldn’t confirm and told her she was fine to go home and about her business. She did. This morning
that patient’s test came back positive for Covid19.

During the interim hours she went home and touched all kinds of **** and breathed on it too. Her son (27 y/o) then touched all kinds of stuff and hugged her and let her kiss him etc. Yesterday he stops by his Dad’s where Dad and my best friend are having dinner. After dinner Best friend and half-brother share a pipe and smoke several bowls of weed.

This would all be fine and dandy but Best Friend has underlying conditions and middle of last year his doctor said he “has a trashed immune system”. He’s now in self-quarantine as are his family members in both homes. He could get tested but that requires going to the ER or going to his PCP and his Dr getting approval from the health department to administer the test (if he even has any on hand). Best Friend has resigned himself to the fact that he could be infected and if it’s moderate or worse that hes likely dead.

This isn’t a joke or an exaggeration, it’s just the reality of our situation right now. If he gets sick I can’t even visit him. I just have to pray and try to keep his spirits up and encourage him to do everything he can to boost his system to fight the virus.
