Not sure I would have dynamited that bridge so spectacularly, but that lol pitch probably deserved an equally lol response.

Impossible to say as this type of problem is difficult to solve as math is in fact hard

Of course, Turnitin having a 54% match does not meant that 54% of the thesis is plagiarized. Any quotes (including block quotes) or any citations that also show up in other papers in their database will show up as matches. 54% is pretty high, but 20% is common just by coincidence.

Most awkward recruiter convo ive had lately is a local startup hard selling me a paycut and a commute(but only 30% of the time) for a Sr. Architect(LOfkcingL) role.

took all my strength to refrain from pointing out how stupid was and instead said, "oh jeeze i don't think i'm top 8 million material, that's a pretty unreachable bar for me, so i won't waste your time" and hung up

I went to Consumer electronics show this year and the startup area was all about metaverse stuff.

Now I actually think metaverse or a metaverse competitor is an inevitable leap and there is a future there… however there is a ton on VC $ getting cooked on these startups. It will take too long for the metaverse itself to become relevant - nevermind these derivative companies being able to cash in.

That plus the capital contraction that will happen in the next two years that it going fry a lot of VC funds and startups..

I have a friend who took a crypto job which gave a somewhat similar pitch. They were so disorganized that he mostly sat around at home collecting a check until the founders ran off with the remaining funds they didn't squander.

https://gyazo.com/b8c00b59d0b53b553e424516cf000599

and are ok accepting paypal or crypto from me to then pay gazzyb a few hundred bucks in person then i'll toss in a little extra for you to buy a rubber chicken with or whatever it is you kids do for fun these days then pm me

if you won't be at those events then no worries, small chance i go to wsop in person (really want to but stuff) and can always pay someone in crypto who'll then transfer to him on stars without the rubber chicken carrot

the first hint that plagiarism was a made up sin was my school taught that you could 'paraphrase' without quotation marks forever. So I eventually learned just to throw in a citation every few sentences as a plagiarism vaccine.

Did you ask them what percentage of the company's equity was going to be part of your compensation?

Pfftt...the quoted equity didnt even touch my last round of RSUs. I dont blame the recruiter but the company is out-of-touch with the market and they clearly think they can offer less to denver locals.

Brag: Wive just qualified as a Champ in Irish dancing!
Beat: I wasn't able to be there, because COVID.
Variance: But at least sleeping in the guest room to keep her from getting sick and having to miss the competition paid off.

What?

Apparently the Youngs these days are putting quotes marks at the very beginning and the very end of papers to thwart turnitin. Which is probably owned by Google cept they aren't telling us.
But I'd think when papers come back as zero percent it might just raise some alarms.
