He is an advantage in that he’s Chinese origin and so can speak with the biggest whales who play here or visit from China but is a friendly, humble, sociable guy too and never sleezy. He organises the games but has done it in a way that none of the other top players here resent.
The past week he’s been playing 1k/2k heads up PLO with a birrionaire who came into town and will only play with him and on Weds night he won $6.6m vs him (he lost $1m on Tues)
The Whale’s ‘rule’ is that if you play him you can’t stop/rack up until he has stopped playing and that he can reload to any amount at any time so if you double he’ll just add on to cover you in some kind of sick Martingale type approach
Sounds like sick stakes
Agree with the code of ethics regarding no quitting until he wants to quit. You (as in the pro) are the whales entertainment. He isn’t an idiot and knows he is there to donate but only on his terms.
All of the private games I play in have similar etiquette. We all take turns (not in an organized way) buying bottles of scotch or wine. Everyone with one or two exceptions will drink heavily. And the ones that don’t are good action so it’s not viewed as a negative.
The pros show the recs / allow them to sweat their hands when they aren’t involved in the pot.
You must be willing to do zero ev gambles like flipping for a few hundred to a few k, participate in waterfalls, straddle / kick up the stakes etc with the whales after they lose big pots.
Those that don’t do most of the above are not invited back a second time.
