here's where I basically get ganged up on everyone in the thread because they prefer their version of China than actual facts and attack me ad hominem as a chinese shill or whatever because i point out they are just regurgitating lies

like most politics threads, it's total aids (was a poli-sci major and I hate that sub) but I finish it with last post quoting a neat cartoon garrick posted a ways back that i thought was neat and expressed a point briliantly

*Edit, i'm not asking for help with a defense or anything, honestly i'd prefer that thread just die a shameful and silent death, just sharing to kind of point out why i tend to try avoiding any discussions with someone about China if they don't have expertise in it - not that I'm an expert but it's just really unpleasant to discuss third rail issues like this when your version of events is vastly different from the majority

me going on utter monkey tilt in Macau, literally can't remember most of the trip because of the stress of it, this trip was not my proudest moment and coincidentally my last hurrah playing for stakes that i considered real money because i was just an empty shell for a while - still view Macau very fondly overall and it's been a huge blessing to my liferoll overall but man that single trip emotionally broke me

single post about what is was like being able to play on absolute poker after black friday

Heard a good one yesterday. I called down with 2nd pair vs. an obvious bluff line where V overbet the turn & river. When I showed he said "Keep calling with that and I'll get all your money." Guy next to me says "I think the way it works is that he gets all YOUR money"

i think getting called a donkey for winnning a pot is a rite of passage in live poker that means you've made it

Usually when I get called a donkey it's because I made a terrible decision and sucked out. I'm not used to it when I make an actual good decision (it's debatable in this case I suppose).

Bold statement, given that I'd argue Black Butte as the quintessential American Porter.

Just blew the keg of Oktoberfest in my kegerator, and trying to figure out what to replace it with. The other tap has a very big Imperial IPA on it, so I'm thinking something relatively easy drinking, but I'm tired of APAs right now. Maybe a red.

Probably fold lol. Without any more info I was like 90% folding. I have a lot of history with villain otherwise just snap fold.
I’m still not sure if he was wanting me to call orrr....?

I also fold if he shows the Ah. 99% of his value range beats you and it’s unlikely he’s bluffing as much as he should at this level. Not to mention I don’t think there are many AhXo reaching the river.

Was his other card super sneaky like the 7 or a heart?

I too am confused why he'd opt to show here, especially when if it so clearly defined his hand.

I would assume he had 27 and wanted me to call with a 2? Lol I don’t know he folded after I raised the last 40 he had behind lol.

Random question... how difficult would it be to make a living on sports betting compared to poker? Much more difficult? Just curious what kind of % of successful sports gamblers there are. I imagine it’d be incredibly easy to go busto when starting out.

xtra - I have a gamboolin pal (former partner in 21). His IQ is significantly higher than mine. When we wrapped up the big team around 17 years ago or so he and a few people that were even smarter got into sports betting. They destroyed it and got filthy rich. However, they ended up moving on for a number of reasons. Long story short imo the really smart money has found other projects or is retired. It can still be done but just like poker the game has evolved

Black butte porter and mirror pond IPA are both excellent, even archetypal genre executions.

I had the elk stew at deschutes brewery in Portland and have never had worse farts in my whole life.

I feel like poker is way easier than sportsbetting. Sportsbetting seems incredibly difficult.

Yep doesn’t even seem close. Instead of playing a bunch of humans- you get to play against a bunch of computers crunching numbers and moving lines quickly while paying insane juice.

Went to Tahoe for a couple days of skiing, having returned to it after a 20-year absence last season. By the end of day 2, I felt pretty close to my former self. I got a black diamond in, and I could blast through the blue squares pretty hard.

Somewhere, I heard the games in Tahoe sucked. Small sample, but the session I played featured more legitimately clueless players than I've seen in a while. A guy called off his $100 stack to an overpot bet OTT with a gutter. 2 hearts on the board, none in his hand. Another called of like 250 with unimproved 22 over 3 streets, saying "I'll play" when making calls.

My favorite pot, I rivered a full house. Bet into. I raised. The board was paired and there were 3 hearts. I got called by a guy with the lowest straight. Except he misread his hand and actually had a pair of 4s. He wasn't even that close to having a straight.

Anyway, free skiing, wohoo.

Yeah, his finish while being yanked around by the face-mask was amazing.

How the Saints dissected the number one defense in the NFL was pretty amazing too. I had a very nervous last 4 minutes of the game.
