Y'all are insane even discussing this. Slavery is evil, period.

Prisoners aren't slaves, their "work" offsets incarceration costs.

Slaves weren’t human slaves either , they were objects according to the law.

Anyone ever coach a little league all star team? Trying to decide how many days to practice and how long?

During the season my team practiced 2 days a week for an hour and a half. I want to balance taking it seriously but understand that they are 10 year olds.

It teaches them to enjoy an honest day's work, since that's what it takes to buy a pack of Rahmen Noodles.

What are you planning to teach them that you expect them to pick up before the playoffs? That will guide you to how much time you need to practice. I will note that at the World Series in Williamsport, things are set up so the players are mainly having fun outside of games themselves.

Skip is the one with the most experience of coaching kids.

I’m coaching an under 11 team at the moment and I run it in an hour with 3 10-12 minute sessions looking at different but related concepts and then a 20 minute ‘game’ to reinforce them

Their attention span is pretty limited

I’m currently coaching 5 year olds baseball. I fluctuate between wanting to kill them and myself. It’s glorified babysitting with the parents sitting right there watching and basically refusing to do anything to correct their shitty child’s actions

I can confirm that is very annoying.

Even at under 11s, I insist on having another parents there to help out both for coaching and policing behaviour

Ask the parents.

(I coached a baseball all-star team for two years and a soccer (futbol) all-star team.)

Who's law? Sumerian, Egyptian, Roman, Islamic, or any other civilization that codified slavery into law? Be specific please.

And while I'm at it, which cultures got rid of slavery and which cultures still think it's OK?

Bruh we are talking about America. Don’t try to change the convo around

Slavery in the United States was the legal institution of human chattel slavery, comprising the enslavement primarily of Africans and African Americans, that existed in the United States of America from its founding in 1776 until the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865.

As a social institution, chattel slavery (traditional slavery) denies the human agency of people, by legally dehumanising them into chattels (personal property) owned by the slaver; therefore slaves give birth to slaves; the children of slaves are born enslaved, under legal doctrines, such as partus sequitur ventrem ("That which is brought forth follows the belly").[17] They also may be bought and sold at will.[18] Although chattel slavery was the usual form of enslavement in most societies that practiced slavery throughout human history, since the 19th century, this form of slavery was formally abolished.[19]

It’s like you guys never cared about the plight of the brown/ black man in America. Chattel slavery isn’t real! The Bible supports slavery! That’s what y’all sound like

My point is that there was a long history of slavery in the world before the Americas were even discovered and the people who came here were just continuing it, shameful though it was. In fact, slavery still exists in parts of Africa controlled by Islam.

You seem to want to lay all the blame for it at the feet of Western culture, primarily the U.S., as if it was the US's original sin, even though it was Western culture (Europe and the U.S.) that ended it.

Now, if you want to hammer the U.S. for the lack of effective action since the Civil Rights act of 1968, then I'll be in much more agreement with you.

So to change the subject, has your lawyer put a lean on Chad Power's three cars the thieves bought with his money? If not, time to get new ones.

Actually, I'd rather listen to "if everything that depicts a time when slavery was legal doesn't put all its energy into denouncing slavery, it is supporting it" drivel than have more Dane vs. Kidd drama. He's already been banned for that and warned to stay away from the subject when he came back on this account.

I'd much rather have neither, of course.

We talkin' about practice?
Spoiler:

2 1.5 hour practices is fine. Throw in some extra batting cage work if you can. Anything beyond that is just show.

5 year olds? Need to have the " " around coaching. Honestly can't think of anything more miserable in sports than "coaching" that age group. I loved my nieces and nephews around that age but a pack of them would be overwhelming. I had some friends who kept inviting me to their kid's birthday parties from age 3 on. Finally around age 6 the mom said "You are never coming to one are you?" Nope. Happy to give a gift and drop by sometime to pat the kid on the head and say "happy birthday" but large groups of small children are something only parents and those paid to be there should have to endure.

The cars aren't in Kydd's name though. Can a lien be put on them? Asking because I honestly don't know but I wouldn't think so.

How I picture Dane's lawyer:

I was banned for harassing someone. I’m not harassing anyone afaik. And it’s easy enough to not include names so this can be discussed semi anonymously but I feel like that’s the opposite of what’s going on here.

Anyway we are trying to have peace between the kingdoms. Hopefully it works out.

I’m not going to try to get any money from chad for the next 24-36 months. I hope he is able to finish his court problems with as little stress as possible and we can reach a new settlement at that juncture.
