Finally around age 6 the mom said "You are never coming to one are you?" Nope. Happy to give a gift and drop by sometime to pat the kid on the head and say "happy birthday" but large groups of small children are something only parents and those paid to be there should have to endure.
no doubt. me and the other coaches are basically free babysitters for an hour. after the first practice i told my wife i'm never doing this again. by the time the kids get to an age i feel i would be comfortable, they'll have real coaches.

Awesome thanks Skip I was thinking along those lines. My son usually hits for an hour at the field in addition to the 2 practices during the week and I am just going to invite them to join us.

I've learned never to ask parents about that stuff Opens it up to too much discussion and always someone butt hurt.

Yeah I skipped teeball because I wanted no part of babysitting 12 little kids.

I coached 10 year olds for one year. The kids were awesome. We were the best team in the league. The adults were intolerable. I had to kick one parent out of the dug out because he was heckling his own son. I was constantly having to tell parents to F off over playing time. I even had to get the league administrator to get after an opposing coach because he started a row on the field because a volunteer umpire made a close call he didn’t like. Never again.

We always had a meeting at the beginning of every year with every kid in the program, from 8-18.

The head guy basically explained, yes we will swear, yes we will dip.

This is “dugout talk”, I don’t want any ****ing emails about “oh coach rob said the f word”. We’re young men etc.

I coached for four years ages from 12-18 and literally never had an issue with parents. I would coach third base with dip in my mouth.

It’s all about expectations fam. Don’t give an inch, they’ll take a mile. Just let them know it’s your show.

Yeah parents are definitely the worse part about it. I have had the majority of the kids since coach pitch so for most of the parents we have established what the roles are. Although I had to go into the stands once this year to tell are parents to stop coaching their kids from the stands.

I also have a new mom who likes to sit by the dugout and question every decision I make in conversation. Like for **** sakes they are 10.

This 100%. I'm pretty sure I got this advice from you a few years ago when I started coaching.

Their attention span is pretty limited
Kick the ball forward
Kick it sideways
Block other team from kicking

Ya know I'm surprised there have been this few riots.

Ancient slavery was not race-based at all. If you lost the battle you could become enslaved to the victors, who might look the same as you.

So what's your point?

Just be careful whom you are addressing. Apparently the future Queen of Denmark played youth sports in Texas.

I'll drop it after this, but you're missing the whole point.

In the history of mankind, slavery had nothing to do with race, until the African trade. And the people you blame are the same ones that ultimately ended it.

But you have a lot of company.

With that, I'll drop it.

I’m not going to try to get any money from chad for the next 24-36 months. I hope he is able to finish his court problems with as little stress as possible and we can reach a new settlement at that juncture.
Ah yea 36 months seems like the perfect amount of time to wait before starting a dispute about breach of an oral agreement.

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about here. I don’t care to explain but this isn’t it.
