A lot of those Instagram posts about chasing your dreams and being the hardest worker in the room really spoke to me

nice man, very well deserved ofc!

give it a shot sometime. look for something that’s no longer than G 60 (60 min a person) and 1 day only

here’s a handy link that you can reference for tourneys in your/whatever area you’ll be in overtime:

btw random but what you said about tough to play against != good really opened my eyes as to how few people are actually crushing the grind when you account for everything from true EV, volume, C game, F game, game selection, BRM etc

My mentor who was instrumental in me getting a shot on my first engineering team pinged me earlier this week to let me know he was retiring at the end of the month at the ripe old age of 40. His extra 2.5yrs at the company really served him well when we went public a few weeks ago. He has two kids approaching college soon too.

Thanks RTP wish you the best.

Poker is basically a gigantic lie and the majority of people that pretend to be “ballin” are doing the exact opposite.

I’m retired too rob, but not fully. Congratulations. What do you do with your spare time? Sometimes I find it hard to stay busy

Hobbies basically. I meant fully retired from playing or thinking about poker.

Video games, lifting, cooking, shooting, language learning, chess, softball, travel

Maybe tmi for the thread but what do you pay yourself annually? That's been the hardest part of the equation for me. I assume as a retiree you're not saving but you also need to account for inflation.

I still have income coming in from passive businesses I own. Probably have to do about 2-3 hours of work a week between both. Then a lot of it is just answering messages between both.

I don't really pay myself anything, but I've saved legit, no lie, at least 80% of my income for the last several years. The couple exceptions would be when I bought a house and this year when I bought 2 cars. I bought myself one and a one for my dad.

My most time spent is on WoW which is about 14$ a month.

I also got lucky with crypto/the market/businesses taking off etc for sure.

just save everything. people spend way too much money on dumb ****.

I've dated 2 girls that made 150k+ and both were perpetually broke.

Whenever my ex complained about being broke I told her to go on a date. Why would I pay rent when she gets $500 to have dinner with a guy

I can never tell when Rob is being serious or not (I always assume he means the opposite of what he states in this thread), so I honestly have no idea what "retired from poker" / "gigantic lie" / etc. mean, but if serious...

I remember you did a couple of interviews early on with pure_aggression; any chance of an exit interview / summarization / thoughts of your experience?

My last few posts have been serious.

I did that in my CLP podcast. I’d consider doing a free one. I was strongly thinking about doing a podcast about random life bs but just never did due to pandemic.

I'm too cheap to subscribe to CLP (or anything else). Guess I'll have to wait till it comes out as a freebie.

$1k for what you’re thinking

“I got ****ed for 3 hours, came four times and made $1k”

Hard to argue against that

Spoiler:
There was only one dude that paid $5 for dinner, wish you stayed around longer Martin!
