$300 eff stacks. Live $1/$3.

New to the table, so no reads. This is about my 5th hand.

Basically, I am wondering if anyone is willing to check behind on this flop or if that is just idiotic given the possible SD and FD.

Preflop, I raise large to narrow the field with the button and a decent hand or to take the pot right then.

Hero ($300) Button 77
Limps around (5-6 players), and Hero raises to $25, Villain calls, all others fold.

Flop ($65): [7Q6]
Villain checks, Hero bets $32, Villain folds.

I bet 100% of the time. That smack bangs his limp/call range imo.

Bet more on flop. You will want to be getting stacks in and that will need big bets. Make it 45 on flop. Since if you bet 30 on flop then like 90 on turn it will look fishy. You pretty much want to set up a river shove.

Too bad he didn't connect that time. Maybe he had like J8s or 22, if people don't have anything you're just not gonna get action and that's all there is to it. Don't be results oriented and start thinking that you need to get ******edly creative with sets.

I would have much rather limped preflop. There's a zillion limpers in the pot which means that if we hit our set on the flop the chances of stacking at least one person is huge due to the amount of players, so our implied odds are massive here. Also, with this many limpers its typically unlikely that a raise will get things HU/3way, although this raise seemed to accomplish that. I'd be more cool with raising if there were only one or two limpers cuz that way we're more likely to make the small money by simply cbetting in HU cases.

As played, I'm definitely betting at least 1/2 pot like you did. The board is drawy (both flushy and straighty). Let's just hope he has something to call with. ETA: Betting more on the flop definitely lets us get stacks in easier, but I still think it can be done with a ~1/2 PSB on the flop. Turn pot will be ~$130 with stacks ~$250; a still rather smallish ~$80 turn bet gets pot to $290 with stacks now at $170, making for a reasonable river shove.

This is what I was thinking after the hand and up until this post. However, that could be results oriented thinking also. I did thin the field and likely would have won a nice pot without flopping a set.

Still, I think in the future I am more apt to play medium-ish pocket pairs multiway, even on the button, because of the implied odds and it being more likely someone else will have something on the flop if the hand is multiway (in case I flop a set).

I prefer a limp preflop (or a smaller raise) but as played bet more on the flop, V calls $45 if he can call $32. never check back this flop. If V folds so be it, he probably didn't have anything, and you lose one street of value if you choose to check back here. V calls with the majority of Q's , FD's, SD's, and some PP's. Take him to valuetown.

Looks fine. Like Savva86 said, I'd go $45.

I agree with limping here, if I make a raise here and I wouldn't I make a smaller pot sweetener here. 2/3 pot you want them to pay for the straight or flush draw.
