Quick Buy-In Question NL 20-40

My buddy and I were discussing this and I told him I’d post here.
He’s mostly a limit player, though his underground game occasionally switches to 2-5 NL. When he goes to LV he plays and can hold his own in limit 20-40 and 40-80.
He was invited to a 20-40 NL game, with 5k minimum buy-in. I have no idea as to the caliber of opponent. How much do you need to comfortably get in that game?

If he was invited to a 20-40 NL game that means whoever invited him thinks he's a losing player and/or they have some sort of edge on him; with that in mind, if he still wants to play I'd bring at least 10k (knowing that you're the fish lol)

I’d probably buyin for 10k and have at least 3 bullets with me so 30k total min

Appreciate the responses. If the game has some players from his regular game he’s not a fish, but the ultimate conclusion was/is that he doesn’t really want to face the swings. Playing with scared money would not suit him, as he’s an aggressive player, by nature.
