Super easy snap call on the river. I like a smaller raise on the turn. I like to ignore these small leads and just raise to whatever I was planning on betting, so like 125. We don't want to blow him off of an ace or let him show it down cheaply

I mean I guess if we know the guy takes non-standard lines with air, then fine. But I still think this line has top pair beat a ton so I am fine with the fold.

I guess I just don't think it is a s close as Amana and others. Whales run into good hands too, so to auto felt top/top because its a "whale" sounds like a leak. But you guys crush more than me so maybe I am wrong.

I think you played the hand well Mike, including the river fold.

Not sure this this is good logic. If you have amazing pot odds, then you could lose the vast majority of times and the call still be profitable.

Not making an argument for calling/folding river, but just unsure of the logic used.

Well if I'm getting 4:1 and I lose the "vast majority" which to me means like 9 out of 10...then its a fold, right? I actually cant remember a single hand where I tanked, didnt think I was good, calculated pot odds, called and won. Not a single one. It may have happened but I dont remember it.

Obviously. I personally always throw in 10% for WTF hands so I'm never worse than 9 out of 10.

I think a lot of villains bet the river when they know their hand has no showdown value. I can think of many, many times when I've tanked the river, called and been good.

Against my regular opponents, big river bets are about 50% bluffs though.

I’m sorry I must have misinterpreted others posts,if he has a lot of combo draws on turn, then raise is the correct play. The river boils down to what his turn action says, does he shove with two pair plus? River looks like value from a good player and a last ditch cheap bluff from a bad player? I think it’s important to know what kind of whale said villian is and what history you have when making close(er) decisions.
