Calling this river after checking back the turn against an aggressive opponent is standard imo. However, betting the turn is better.

**Not betting turn for value 'because we don't want to get raised' is a classic leak IMO**.

The way to handle the turn is to think through villain's range/tendencies, and then to either bet/fold or bet/call. There are times to check-back the turn against aggressive opponents, but it's on dry, WA/WB situations, because then we are not risking much with a free card and their river bluffing range >> their turn calling range. Here wasn't such a spot.

Incidentally - what would you do if A comes on the river and he makes the same bet? K? Q? 3? Are you snapping all of them? Folding all of them? Do you see how it's so easy for you to make a mistake on the river with your line? You got somewhat lucky that a complete blank came and he made a somewhat obvious bluff that polarized his range. Quite a few river cards could cause you to make a mistake here...

Setsy pretty much hits the nail on the head here. I was originally in the check turn, snap blank river camp. But after thinking about this hand for some time, and assigning ranges to villain, he is almost always drawing on the turn, given the pre-flop and flop action. It was very fortunate that the river blanked, to allow an easy call.

If he makes a bet of, say $125-150 otr I really would lean towards a fold since his betting is giving me almost 4:1, which looks stronger given that he knows that card hit my perceived range This to me looks like a "call me" bet.

Your posts in this thread provided me a good learning tool to better understand what could be done better. No need to be in a guessing game OTR when we still are ahead of his range/have the initiative. In a sense I am being a showdown monkey?
