When is the epiphany when a poker player stops saying card dead?

Is it level 2 or 3 thinking?

Wtf are you talking about again?

There are plenty of times when you actually are card dead in good games.

If your talking about stuff out of pairs, Axs, Kxs, sc and sc1gappers I agree. But if you are not I disagree.

As an advanced player(that's what I call myself) I had a epiphany my second year pro. Instead of looking for cards, I look for situations. Idk if you guys have reached that milestone yet. So I was asking when do people start thinking like me, a level 2 or 3 player?

You are not good at this game, as indicated by your result and strategy posts. So I am not sure why you're going almighty on us again.

you don't know what level 2 etc means.

It's not like a video game, I'm not on level 10.

I agree I'm a horrible poster. I just can't talk like a full nerd. I talk semi nerd. My results for my game are top tier.

People can sit on here all day and talk that nerd talk. I see through the lines. If you don't have passion and think everyone is terrible. Your not good yet. Just my opinion.

All I'm talking about is people complaining about being card dead. Those types look for cards, good players look for situations. What level is that?

Congratulations!

You are now a level 3 semi pro poker player.

To move on to level 4 please either:

talk full nerd or

make your results top top tier.

To change classes to full pro, please quit your job.

Is 5 the highest?
07-07-2012 , 01:45 PM
The whole level thing is not so much "how good are you?" but "what holdings are you thinking about." Level 0 is "what do I have?" Level 1 is "what does he have?" Level 2 is "what does he think I have?" Level 3 is "what does he think that I think that he has?" etc.

Once again you're describing a villain who portrays yourself.

Passion helps but, by itself, it means jack, just like how intelligence without hardwork is moot.

The reason why you can't post proper strategy is because you lack necessary foundation and therefore cannot adequately describe your thought process.

Well considering that most money at LLSNL is made by value betting fish and that in order to value bet fish you need good cards, realizing that would put you at level 2 because you're outplaying the level 1 thinkers.

Not realizing that would put at level... I'm not sure... 0?

This is why they say "never play more than one level above your opponent." If you are trying to rep, for example, a set, but your opponent isn't even thinking about your range, he's just thinking "ZOMG, I has top pair!" then your attempt is bound to fail, as he doesn't even notice it.

What do you do when FE doesn't exist? Do you avoid such game because big whales are stacking off with J-high?
07-07-2012 , 01:48 PM
I'm catching heat for no reason and nobody has answered my question. I have not said I'm card dead in years. I always say I couldn't find a good situation. Maybe my thinking is ahead of its time.

Sorry for all the troubles.

You just randomly blurt out non-sense, and we are obviously bored because we're responding to obvious non-sense.

FE doesn't exist in llsnl. But that doesn't mean you can't get folds. It just takes more action.

If you are talking about some extreme conditions that I have yet to encounter I can't answer until I judge the FE for myself.

I understand that is may be soul crushing to find out that you're actually 1/4 of the player that you think you are, but without realizing that, you may never move up, or level up =).

No one's answered your question with a level number because this isn't a level issue. It is a psychology issue. Again, as I said above, level X thinkers refers only to how people are thinking about holdings, not to "how good you are overall." I've seen some horrible spew-monkeys get in to leveling wars with each other.

As far as the psych issue of what you call it when you are getting sub-optimal pre-flop holdings, I don't think it matters if you call that card dead, as long as you don't let being card dead tilt you. If you are prone to tilt (most often boredom tilt) when you aren't seeing good cards, than tagging that issue some other way mentally is probably a good idea.

The best thing about poker is you judge yourself. As long as you never underestimate an opponent you will never be over confident in game. Like Sorrel Mizzi said a few weeks ago. The guys who are extremely confident have an advantage over the majority because nothing tilts their confidence. He said he wishes he had that type of psyche.

Garick to the rescue. Thanks for saving me. My bad llsnl chat. I thought it was a level thing and now I'm back on track.
