9 handed, $3,200 effective. Hero likely perceived as fairly tight and not likely to get out of line, but no OMC/nit. V1 had a decent sized stack that’s whittled down to $3,400 to start hand - fairly solid, not super afraid to bet but hadn’t seen him get out of line. V2 has about $5K and in for piles today. Younger player who is competent for sure, willing to put in chips but slightly tilted fro start of the day.

Blinds 5-5-10, hero UTG+1 raises to $35 after a limp. All 9 call (Yes - this was only hand all night with family pot). Hero has A ❤️ Q ♠️. Pot $300.

Flop A ♦️ 7 ♠️ 2 ♦️. Checks to V1 on my left who bets $125. V2 calls and back to me. Not sure what to put V1 on but V2 didn’t seem too strong. I raised to $625. After a minute or so V1 jams and V2 tanks forever before calling. I folded.

Thoughts on my play?

Bet the flop; I assume that any AK would have 3bet pre, and there is plenty of AX who are calling, plus all the flush draws and, possibly, mid pairs.

Not a big fan of CR flop with TP in general: it always looks like a slight overplay, but perhaps it is just me.

As played, without very specific reads, I would also fold.

One pair against 8 opponents isn't that strong. I'd be looking to pot control/get to showdown and fold to pressure if unimproved. C/c flop.

In hindsight it appears to be overplay. At the time I raised we had gone from 9 to 3 of us still in. I was hoping my image would take it down with the raise if they weren’t that strong.

V1 had 9-7 ♦️ and V2 had 10-5 ♦️ and won when a 10 hit the turn.

C/c on flop and likely turn, evaluate from there is likely a better route. That might be my normal path but I tried a newer approach.
