Only one table of 1/2 going. Table is a mix of older regs, a few 2/5 players, and me.
OTTH
Hero has ~ $130
V1 (2/5 player, competent, good player) has ~ 250
V2 ~ 200 (2/5 player, LAG)
Preflop:
Hero is UTG with KhKs...limps
V1 raises to 8
V2 calls
Hero raises to $36
Flop (110ish): Kc9c2c
Hero is first to act. What's the move? Check/Raise, or Lead Out if so what size?
I elected to shove all in on the flop with first to act for about 95ish. V1 thinks for a minute or two and calls, V2 shoves all in over the top. V1 begrudendly calls.
Turn: 6h
River: Ac
V2 flips over Q10cc, V1 mucks.
Bad play or bad run out? I understand hand could have been played differently with bigger stacks. Also what could V1 have in that spot, pocket nines?
The bad move was open limping. I'm not very good with short stack strategy, but I would've sized up the three bet slightly (nit picking), and the flop is an extremely trivial shove at these depths. There's no way results will bias anyone's responses on this HH, but in general posting results in the OP is frowned upon for that reason.
You should be trying to grow pot especially on short stack. It is one of the advantages in that you can get stacks in. As others have stated, I would of probably raised to $40.
Limp reraising AA KK is the new thing from 1979 and Doyle Brunsons Super System book. It’s a counter to avoid 5 people going to the flop when you are first to act.
SPR you’re never folding the set. Shove or check raise all in. If someone flopped a flush then NH.
