Hero $300
Villain $180
Villain 2 $220

Hero's first had at the table. $4 straddle. UTG+2, UTG+3 limp, Villain raises to $20, Villain 2 calls $20. Hero wakes up with JJ in MP. What do?

I elected to raise to $100 and Villain shoves for his $180. Villain 2 folds and I call.

Regardless of outcome is this a situation where I overplayed my JJ? I felt that read-less in a straddled pot that I had to go with a raise call it off here.

Oh, Yeh .., You play it well. There's no point to just call and setmine with the effective you described. You got the 5th bets starting hand pre flop
S&M group #1: AA, KK, QQ, AKs, JJ You are fine .. man .. wtf?

Alright, thanks. that's what I thought, but wanted to check on my line of play.

Do you have any reads on villain?

No, it was my first hand at the table.

Ugh yeah, then should be fine. When villain pushes, you're probably beat but you can't fold for the times he likely has AK.

I don't think we should be 3betting to an amount that pot commits us to 100bb effective stacks with JJ. Viable options are small raise to like $50 or just flat call it IMO.

I suppose if we want to deny set mining odds $60 might be better than $50. Anyone else?

I dunno, there's a fair amount in the pot already. I kinda like discouraging a call instead of encouraging it with JJ. Would agree more with QQ and certainly AA/KK.

What was this guy's raising frequency? Seems people are generally tighter raising pre against a straddle, so I almost prefer a call thinking more.

Completely read-less in this scenario as I had just been dealt this hand as I was taking my seat. However, after playing an entire session with Villain I would definitely prefer a flat over a raise in this situation. Villain is the type of player to flat and not raise AK here.
