UTG+1 opens to 3bbs (solid player though playing loose, capable of hand reading)
MP calls 3bbs (quite straightforward player but is capable of bluffing here and there)
We're in the BB with KJ, we defend.

Pot: 10bbs
Flop: 5 7 9

It checks through

Turn: 5 7 9 J

We check, UTG+1 bets 7bbs, MP calls 7bbs, we call 7bbs

Pot: 31bbs
River: 5 7 9 J 2

We check, UTG+1 checks, MP bets 20bbs

Interesting spot because not sure what MP can have for value there really. Only slowplayed straights make sense. I think it's a call without UTG+1 behind us, he can easily have a Jack. Given that this is a really loose game and UTG's range contains worse Jacks like JT and QJ I decided to call.

What would you do here? Also do you think there's value in leading turn?

Pre: call is ok although this hand is at the bottom of my range in BB against a capable player.

I prefer to lead this turn. Board favors our range. AP: Board is pretty wet now. Overcall is ok but what river do we want to see here?

River bricks and we’re still unsure of the correct tactics. UTG has missed his FD and MP has led. JTs is MP most likely holding, as AJ would have raised turn. And JT blocks the straight so would be comfortable seeing another card. AP it’s a crying call. He could probably show you ATC. Not so worried about UTG behind us unless he’s extremely clever.

In general I tend to play quite passively OOP with vulnerable made hands and I go into check/call mode most of the time. I was wondering about leading but I also didn't want to value-own myself against AJ. But maybe that line was too passive, I can agree.

Just call the 50 cents. It's poker not nuclear physics.

Maybe this spot wasn't so interesting to be honest, only the results somewhat are.

UTG+1 called behind with KJ as well and we chopped, MP player was bluffing, missed spades probably.

I would lead turn as well.

AP, I think raising or folding the river are both superior to calling given the way the action went down (esp MP's sizing on the river).
