Not sure I totally agree with this.
Being oop - I think most good players would value-bet
as well as bluff the river. (As you stated - his hand becomes very polarized.) And really good ones will shove a bluffy value-bet that confuses the hell out of you. I guess the size of the bet might be indicative that he's at the very top of his range... but still, it's a longshot.
I think he got lucky that your hand was as strong as it really was. Any TPTK or medium 2-pair easily gets away from this. And if YOU were the one on the spade draw, you insta-muck.
