I'd like to start graphing and charting my progress at live games.

I know this is easier to do online but with live what kind of stats should I be tracking?

Should I just start keeping a log of basic stats (Hours Played, Profit Won/Lost, Hands Played, etc.) since I'd like to see my hourly win rate, and all that jazz you can use to view your progression.

Eventually I'd like to chart/graph them on my computer.

Is there anyone out there who does this on a consistent basis? And if so, how are you doing it?

Thanks.

I use an app called pokerjournal.
it is really easy to use; you can add data after a session or what I like to do is set it up when I first sit down and then when I quit for the day I hit "end session".

Basically you input what game/stakes you are playing and your buy in/ rebuys/ tips/tokes and when you finish it will ask you what you cashed out for and then calculates all the data in multiple formats (graphs, charts, text).

a lot of pros I know use cardplayer. It's free and I've heard good things. I just use my own excel spreadsheet. Not sure if I'm allowed to link, but...http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tool...racker/landing

Also heard good things about poker journal, although I think it's like $10 to buy or something.

I use the Poker Income app on the iphone. Keeps track of pretty much all the basic stats you need.

Is PokerJournal Lite decent enough to save spending $13 on the full app?

And, what are some buy-in/cash-out strategies you guys use while using an app like this?

I feel like such a scrub, I don't have a next gen phone, ipad or anything of the like. So I come home and just mark my hours played, +/- cashout.

Also silly question, So, I have about 80 hours played currently and the rake system where I play is 5+2. They have the BBJ and have at set times High Hand Pay out. To maximize Profit I play during these High hand times. I have hit them twice so far. Should I add it into my win rate since it is taking money out of each hand with the rake. or should i keep it separate.

^ Keep it separate and add in what you would have made from the additional rake imo. The point of tracking is to find trends in how you play over time, not to simply keep a ledger of winnings (though you should do this too).

Otherwise these occurrences totally skew your data and you can't infer as much from it.

You could apply a filter in Poker Journal. Poker Journal Lite isn't worth it. The full app is. Got to spend money to make money right?

They just updated the app not too long ago as well, finally got rid of the blurry icon for iOS4+.

Poker Journal is the best app for any iOS device. Not sure about the rest.

I hadn't found any software for phone or computer that I liked, so I was just keeping 2 sets of records on my phone. The first was session results- +/-, hours, room, stakes and beverage, the second record is the one in which I track all of my all in results.

Gonna take a look at that cardplayer app, though.

In what format do you keep these ledgers?

For both general statistics and all-in statistics.

Small Diary and a pen usually works for me.

It's just a note on my notepad pny phone. My entry from tonight for my session was

335 1-2 MGM 8.5 hrs beer

My all in note for tonight just reads 187 35 indicating I won $187 after getting all in with 35% equity (ship the suck out!)

I use income calculator. It's simple to use and very decently priced.
