The street I think you misplayed was the Flop. With *middle* set (or bottom set), you should be re-raising here; the only hand I think you should just call with is *Top* set, just because, when you don't have the top card it makes it more likely your opponents have it (rather than that they have draws or bluffs), so we want to get more money in the flop right away.

Not much to say on the Turn--Villain was almost certainly just making a move on the Flop, and you just got unlucky. You need to raise here, 100%--because

a) if he's in his value range you get his stack, and
b) there are a ton of River cards that are gonna make you vomit (and some will also make you lose the hand, but, the bigger problem is, you won't be able to get any value on them--if he has AhQd but the river is the 6s, it's just going check-check or check-fold).

Im not sure what that card does to help V equity on the turn.

I like the way you played the hand other than raising turn on a mostly dry board. No reason tothink he has BDFD Call turn. Let him bluff river and jam if checked to obviously.

Calling flop raise and then raising turn is super strong. The worst hand you could take that line with is AQ and even that would be over playing the AQ if you do it very often.

The board is fairly dry on the flop, villain is really representing not believing your flop bet rather then a draw. The only possible reasonably good draw is 76 and the 7 doesn't help. That argues for flatting turn. At the same time though, not many villains are going to carry through with a river bluff after you call flop raise and turn bet. Raising to protect your equity and stack the rare 55 hand is good also. Which is better depends on if villain. Does he have any actual bluffs when he continues turn and will he bluff shove river?

Good analysis. My experience is a lot of Vs will follow through with bluffs and their value a good percentage of the time. Especially since you have yet to raise.

The raise flop bet turn large line is also very strong. The only thing H raising now can do is wake him up from whatever he might be about to do. And if he was giving up anyways, not raising does not hurt that either.

Thank you for the help. I think you’re right. I should just re-raise the flop and let his open ended straight draw or possible TPGK that doesn’t want to believe me put it in on the flop. To what sizing do you think?

My thought process was that being in position, I could put more money in on the turn and River if he slowed down. Also, if he did have a TPGK, then he could value own himself across three streets and with stack sizes as they are, likely put his stack in.

Also, this way, if a 9 or 4 came on the turn completing the only obvious draw, I could call across turns and if not boated up and the opponent goes bet/bet, then I could reasonably fold the River if necessary. But, with no 9 or 4 then I’m calling all turn and River bets.

Then when the turn came, I never thought he’d fold a pair + open ended straight draw.

When he folded he said he had outs. We had a good rapport and I believe him, but not sure what he had.

I agree with your thought here as well. Thank you for the help. My options should only be to either play it fast and call all the way down unless checked too, or just shove.

I think re-raising the flop is my best option here. He never had QQ the way it’s played. But at that same rate, what is there to check raise other than a total airball, a lower set, or 67?

Thank you for your help. I keep flip flopping while reading the comments but, i think this has to be the best response to me so far. If he’s bluffing or value betting, it’s likely all going in on the River if he bets again considering stack size.

My original thought was that he would never be able to fold an OESD + pair which is why I raised on the 7 turn. But, i think that’s not as relevant as a thought as first considered.

See my initial response. I didn’t see the quote button. It’s my first time posting on here!
