Hi all,

The stakes really couldn't matter less in this post, and I miss posting here so here I am!

Let's say you are playing and V is an unpredictable and loose V who is willing to gamble. Players salivate when he arrives at the table.

You open on his BTN straddle to 4x (because why not - he'll call!) in MP with AA and he says kinda annoyed (you have history) "did he raise me?" and calls. You are HU 30bb eff. with the straddle on (normally 60bb).

Flop (10bb): Qd-9d-3d. You check, V stabs 4 BB, you c/r 11 BB, V tank ships.

Thanks,
DT

Why do you check flop when so many turns kill your hand or your action?

AP, call and almost always you'll be fading AdX.

+1 to Garick, we've got 26bbs left to play and there's 10 in the middle...bet like 8 now and the rest on non-diamond turns, maybe check/folding diamond turns?

If I decided to check this flop (mostly because V bet out of turn), it's with the intention of check-raising all in regardless of V's betsize.

Having decided to make a smaller than all-in raise, I would now beat the villain into the pot with my chips to call his shove.

Grunch. I'm never playing 60 BB effective and don't see the point. Let's just say for the sake of the argument that I lost a pot and wasn't quick enough to top up, so I'm 60 BB effective (30 with the straddle.)

I open to 6 BB because he's calling almost an identical range that he does versus 4 BB, and we're OOP.

As played though, since we only went 4 BB, I bet 3 BB on the flop. I don't think it's bad to go bigger versus this opponent, but I personally like the 1/3ish bet.

As played, I don't see any reason to x-r. He could've just stabbed with air. X-r is too fancy for me. As played facing the 3 bet shove I snap call at these stack depths.

Couple reasons: poor visibility on a lot of turns, want to GII flop and OOP c/r is best IMO against a V who will bet IP light. Bet and call we are in no man's land on lots of turns.
