went to the casino last night and ended up playing some 1/2. sat down with $100 delt aces right as i take the guys seat who was going. I just toss in 25$ thinking heck no one is going to call. goes all away around to the bb and he calls. Flop comes Ace spades king of dia jack of dia. I bet 30 he quick called. "im like ok wtf". Turn was a jack of hearts. i checked, he checks. river was a 5 of diamonds. I push all in and just blurt out a little comment- "well nothing like getting it all in on the first hand". He calls clock on himself and ends up calling. he showd ace 7 of diamonds and i turned over the boat. played 2 more hands and just got up with my easy dubble up. was fun night considering i just went to watch my mom play her slot machine tourney anyways.

Welcome to the forum. Bet turn. Don't go all in and make a speech, it is always the nuts.

some tips for you.... looks like you're a bit unexperienced playing live

don't buy in for $100 if you're actually a winning, +ev player

don't make a speech when you go all in, screams strength usually... google Caro's Live Poker Tells

don't open raise (which is looked like you did) to $25 preflop at a 1/2 game because almost always, villains will fold...hell, i wouldn't even be comfortable calling a $25 PFR with QQ against an unknown at 1/2... people's calling range is really narrow for this size of a raise... it screams KK or AA since you invested 25% of your stack and looks like you're going to be playing for stacks

all in all, congrats on doubling up, welcome to the forums, and take the advice given with a grain of salt

This is not what you want. Do you really want to win only $3 with aces? you didn't say your position, or if there were any limpers before you, so it's hard to give the appropriate sizing, but about $15 sounds good. You can go a bit big your first hand, as many will interpret it as an attempt to psych-out the table, but $25 is too much.

AP, pot is $50 on the flop, and you bet $30 on an A K J board with top set. Not bad, but I'd go $40. Board is very wet, and he's not folding with a good piece of this if he called $25 pre. Def want to charge draws here and get as much in pot as possible. OTOH, you're so short that if he calls the $30, he'll be committed anyway.

AP, Turn pot is $110 on A K J J and you have top boat and only $45 behind. I don't mind the check, as it gives him a chance to catch up and maybe call river, and also makes him think maybe you had none of the board and were just c-betting flop. Putting it in here would be fine too, playing this short, but a check def makes it impossible for him to fold river.

AP, river pot is $110 and you shove for under a 1/2 pot bet with top boat on a 3-flush board. Totally standard. No way he's folding a flush there. Speech is bad, though, as it might have got him to lay down the weak TP if he hadn't flushed.

Eh. Nitty old guys hate folding to young guys...but they do. You happened to get lucky that he called you with the bottom end of his range. Once that flop hits, the hand plays itself. The fact that he tanked on the nut flush for $45 on the river should tell you why raising to $25 pre was a little iffy.

Keep in mind that old nits will also open hands like JJ- AA for over bets, so they tend to read that raise as fairly strong.

Then why are you asking? And why were "thinking heck no one is going to call?" And why "like ok wtf" when he called your little c-bet on a very wet board?

Frankly, a little humility will help you learn.
