I am curious as to what you see as the primary differences in the way SL plays vs NL.
A) Boulder is on Fire
B) Hit me up as I will probably be in BH (where you will be playing) playing the HPT event. Best small-ish tournament around for the prize pool!

What days will you be here?

The differences between SL and NL are the pot controlling bets you will make and the fact that you cant force your opponent to a huge all in decision. Now couple that with the fact that these guys have been playing a 2/5 limit game for 15 years and their minds are made up that one should chase all draws and go with every TP and that makes for a high variance game. Its great when you are smashing cards, but when you are not its boring and you feel like the worst player in the world. My friend and I call it "Match Board." Lets see who can match the board best. If you go to BH play only the 2/5 -100 games. The Lodge is good for the action.

I fly in Monday and out on Friday. I will look up where I am staying and PM you. My Friday flight is super early, so I am leaning towards an all nighter Thursday night/Friday morning. If my hotel isn't far from the casino, I would like to go a coule of nights.

........ if you're serious about an all nighter on Thursday and want a very very good game.... definately hit me up. It will be about 1.5 hour drive for you from Boulder but its worth it. Either way PM me.

Oh and its a game with that new 2/5 NL stake you wanted to start playing.

It depends on the definition of "auto-pilot." If you mean in the sense of "the guy is a 15/13/4 with a ATS of 25 and FCBetF of 48, therefore I always do X when he does Y," that is not correct. I'm by no means an on-line pro, but I do play 13-15 tables at a time and I will change my play based on the villain. If a normal solid citizen starts 3betting me a lot (like two times in 30 hands), I'll adjust.

I'm confident based on what I read of others, that they adjust as well (and do it better).

Not saying you cant adjust to opponents online, but when you have 15 secs to make a decision most of your decisions are based on statistical information and situations that happen time and time again against the same or similar type players thus it becomes auto-pilot. If this wasn't true then there would be no need for HUDs IMO. I am not saying that "auto-piloting" is some easy task; I'm just saying that when you are 12+ tabling the information provided to you by your HUD is going to be more accurate and relevant to you than any read you think you may have and your decisions will be based on the numbers more often than the "reads", hence the reason we base +EV plays or -EV plays on our opponents VPIP, AgFq, etc etc. Last, if you do not believe there is some sort of "auto-pilot" play going on I suggest a trip to the online sub-forums. I am sure you will notice all the "standard" situations and "best line" strategy and discussion. (I am not telling you personally to go there and look as I know you already do, I'm speaking in general to anyone).

I think we're in agreement in general. I should say that of the over 14,000 players I have stats on at 50nl, there are 26 that I have over 2,000 hands. Therefore most of the time, I'm playing the stats unless they do something unusual. However, for those 26, I've taken the time (off line) to look at how they play hands and will play them differently based on what I've seen in their play if there is a variation from what I expect from their stats. The group isn't large, but come up frequently enough to have separate notes on them.

As one moves up, there are less random players and more regulars. Eventually, one has to know what the specific weaknesses of the regulars are to continue to win. In this way, it becomes more like live over time where the pool of regulars is much smaller in total, but not in %.

Good player makes notes on lines of players when multitabling, not merely stats. Watch some videos. Coaches will say things like "this player tends to fast play strong draws" which is not a statistic note, but a mental note.
