1/2 nl live

Hero ~$400 : 30 yo, decent if somewhat tight image in general slightly winning

villain 1 ~$200 : open limps far too much and is too willing to call pre. disgruntled at hero after calling a check raise semi bluff on the turn that got there on the river.

villain 2 ~$300 : Very recently sat down mid 20s wearing a snapback cap bought in for the "pro" amount of 300 is probably decent. I don't know him but he may possibly know me if he does then probably sees me as a bit too tight pre and a bit too aggro post.

Preflop

V1 opens to $8 from UTG
V2 calls in the CO
Hero QJ OTB Call $8

Flop ($27)

J T 4

V1 CBets $20
V2 Calls
Hero Calls

Turn ($87)
J
V1 checks
V2 bets $30
hero calls
V1 folds

River ($147)
7
V2 Checks
Hero Bets $85
V2 all in for $223
Hero?

Thoughts on any street welcome.

pros to calling
1. I have trips
2. My hand feels under repped
3. v might be value owning with a worse J

cons
1. I pretty much always have a value hand in this spot
2. In retrospect the $30 turn now looks like a make your own price bet
3. calling river check raises without the nuts at low limit live always seens to lose me money.

I agonized and folded. No idea what V had so commiserations are not required.

Your getting a good price here, but I think your almost never good here. You know what they say. If you never fold a winner you'll never be a winner. Turn definitely looks like a blocking bet. 89 got there. JT,KJ,AJ,TT crush you. Pretty gross spot.

Is he able to make bluffs here? Like with KQ, Q9, 88/99 blockers?
Did we give him a reason to make such a bluff?
Does he have value that we beat? For instance with J9/J8?

If i don't have a positive answer for at least 1 of these questions, i'd instantly fold this.

And i'm not even gonna start about general population tendencies for x/raising rivers.

any thoughts on raising turn? I think it turns our hand face up (or even slightly overreps it) but it still might be the best play especially given history with V1.

If you had been playing like a complete maniac, yeah sure. With the image you described in the OP however i'd expect you fold out all worse hands and only get called by Jx and boats. You do fold out some straight draw equity i guess.

I like how you played it.
Well, whatīs your range getting to this river?

Donīt know your game, but assuming youīd 3bet QQ+, sometimes JJ+ and flat TT almost always against an UTG open, you got a pretty wide range of valuebetting hands on this river.
I personally would only continue with KQ for an open ender and muck 89, would not raise any full house ott to keep their ranges as wide as possible, so 44, TT, JT and once in a while JJ are all in my range as well as J9s, JQs, KJs, AJ, ATs, KTs, QTs, KQ.

Once checked to, Iīd valuebet any full house, any J and probably AT (might be a check though) and KQ. pretty unbalanced, but who cares.

getting the price we are getting (140 to win 450), we shouldnīt fold too many of our hands otr, KQ and AT for certain, maybe J9, but after that?

Just going solely on general player population tendencies, we can overfold pretty much anything but full houses in this spot and wonīt get exploited at all, but given the price we are getting, us being maybe slightly underrepped in his eyes (although it is not true), the read of him being a bit too agressive and the overall slightly bull****ty-line he took, I think itīs a call. I think itīs pretty close though.

As a general rule I almost always raise blocking bets. If you think V is trying to set their own price why let them? If you get called you can always re-evaluate on the next street.
