Check/raising > check/calling is marginal spots? IMO Check/raising > check/calling is marginal spots? IMO

So after a typical downswing, started thinking about random ****, and thought about how a lot of times people are arguing about whether to check/call or check/raise in maringal situations such as TPGK, because people argue that they can not get called by worse hands.

Something like this thread with KJ on a j84 board against 2 players a maniac and a shark,. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...-5-nl-1150094/

So anyways I was thinking about some of the good arguments for check-raising instead of check calling in these tricky sports.

First of all one thing it does is give you fold equity, you can fold out a lot of hands such as middle pair that could suck out trips or two pairs. Also another thing that it does is help you really identify the villains range so you dont have to play the check/call guessing game for the turn and river. The last thing and maybe the most important thing is how it affects your image. The average level 1 thinking players will see you check/raising marginal hands and in times when you are value bet check/raising, they will call you off more often since they see you as more aggressive, allowing you an oppurtunity to get more money in pots by people calling your check-raises more lightly when you do have the goods.

Depends on the villain and the relative strength of the hand. It is a subject that can't be discussed in isolation in this type of format, so I'm locking this thread.
