I would never UTG straddle unless:
1. everyone is straddling- you should join in to encourage 8-9 other players make mistakes out of position with meager holdings while you crush them in position with better hands, and give up easily on your own straddles.
2. A game with a bunch of nits and passives to your left, and two droolers in the small and big blinds.
I would probably only straddle on the button if the game was deep, and I knew that postflop I was by far the best player at the table.
