I am just surprised out how many people recommend betting 1/2 pot, 2/3 pot and such for loose 1-2 games. Few give a good reason for it, if any.
Almost nobody suggest ever potting the flop, and is somebody suggest over betting the flop they get there head handed too them..
I argue for mostly (when value betting) making pot bets on the flop...(deep stacks over betting the flop may become correct with big hands but then you have to do it and show with top pair type hands from time to time).
assuming your playing a tag style...(lag smaller bets make more sense since your range is wider, and you cbet more).
I'm also assuming we are playing against loose passive players...(if you are up against an agro player, or skid-dish player other ideas my be bettor).
So say effective stack are 250 ish...we raise 15 and get 2 callers with AK, (a good result in these games).
stacks are 235 and a pot of 45. about a 5 to1 stack to pot ratio... we assume untill proven other wise we have the nuts against these player types. Are plan is to get one of these players with a dominated hand to put his stack in our stack.
Assumptions about the standard 1-2 player:
1. they call much more liberally on the flop then any other street
2. they call more liberally on the turn then on the river...
3. they don't count pots, and or more concerned with actual bet sizes not
relative bet sizes
4. bad turn and river cards can kill there later street action (or your action)
5. within reasonable betting amounts players are inelastic.
So I look to chunk up their stack and get it in....I also would like to keep most bets below 100 when possible.
So my plan is pot the flop, Double that on the turn (assuming one caller), and same on river...
As long as the spr are between 4 and 6 this strategy with minor correction is going to work the best on most flops...
Deeper spr the strategy still works s getting much more the 5 to 6 times
is too hard, with big hands, betting a bit more on the turn and then potting the river...is much more likely to get the money in then, 2/3 flop...1/2 turn...then over shove the river...
With shallower spr...say 3 area...potting flop and shoving turn works well, though on dry boards here a small flop bet and chunking it up to a turn and river bet does now make sence...
Spr of less then 2....on boards with a draw shoving flop makes the most sense as you will have to get it in on the turn anyway .
Arguments against
1) you c bet some times when you miss so potting flops costs to much...
Counter argument...in loose 1-2 games opponents are not perpendicularly observant and a tag style plays few hands for anyone to get a good read on you, so betting smaller on those times you cbet mostly goes unnoticed (or the figure he must have a huge hand now since he is betting so small).
2) you save money (don't commit as much) when you do get raised on the flop or turn... My guess is the extra money you loose here is well offset by the bigger money you make by weaker hands calling earlier,
3) you can loose customers by betting bigger...The in-elasticity of most Low stake players offsets a lot of this...
