Best strategy for a 2/2 game with high rake and 75bb max buy-in? Best strategy for a 2/2 game with high rake and 75bb max buy-in?

Looking for the best way to approach this game in my town, unfortunately poker is monopolized by the government here so there aren't any other legal games.

Little background:
  • game is 9-handed often a full table
  • you can buy in for 75bb max
  • 10% rake, €10 cap
  • 2/3 decent regs, the rest are tourists or recs
  • like most low stakes live games people like to see flops, 6/7x BB raise pre is standard
  • I've had some decent sessions with ABC but I feel like it's only taking me so far. With the high rake and 75bb starting stack you find yourself reloading fast if you lose a few pots. A standard 3-bet would be ~18bb so there's not a lot of room to make plays when you're not that deep yet.
What would be the best approach to maximize winnings here?

Very tight and try to play only big pots that max out the rake. The value of seeing a cheap flop is highly diminished by the rake and the stack sizes.

Basically what Garick said. Also, increase your fold equity and call (even) less both preflop and post.

Based on your post I think i know in which country/casino you play, which means there should also be 2/4 and/or 5/5 available with better rake structure. Get staked or be aggressive with your bankroll management, and move up ASAP.

Could you elaborate on very tight? Like where do I draw the line on setmining, suited connectors etc?

You basically don't play suited connectors at all unless effective stacks get deep, and you'd be looking for 20x-ish odds for set mining.

With max stack 75BB you will be playing those hands when you can limp behind in LP. Suited connectors want at least 20-1 and preferable more. Set mining is looking for 15-1. With max buy in at 75BB and opening raises likely starting at 5BB you are just at 15-1. If stacks are below 75BB even if somebody opens in EP and gets a couple of calls it still may not be worth set mining.

You will need to watch actual average stacks and opening sizes. But for the most part expect to effectively be playing a short stacked games all the time. Your looking for hands that flop strong TP hands. Everything else you raise is really just to balance your bluffs.

Fold all suited connectors from EP, only open them in LP+button (as you should be doing in full ring anyways).
Don't play PP under 88.
Open premiums TT+, including AJs, only.

The structure of this game ensures that all players have reduced negative edge so when they flop top pair weak kicker and you have NFD for example, stacks are GII and post-flop play is removed.

I would recommend to find an entirely new game because if you start winning at these structures, you will get destroyed when you move up to 5/5 or play even a 100BB minimum 2/3.
