My NL home game, blinds .25/.50

Villian is my brother, who I have played with for 6 years or so regularly, and I know his game better than anyone else I play with. I read him well. He is generally a good cash player overall.

We each sit with roughly $50-55 at this point.

This is by recollection of a hand that occurred a month ago...

Hero (BB) is dealt: 74

Pre-flop:
Several limps, Hero checks.

Flop (~$2.50): 293
SB checks, Hero bets $2, folded to Villain (BTTN) who raises to $5.25, Hero raises to $13.50, Villain raises to $28

I would like thoughts on the action up to this point, and thoughts on how to proceed.

even if you flatted the flop raise, i think all the money would/should go in on a non-heart turn anyway. i think if i was hero i would have made the three-bet larger (anywhere between 20-AI). home game hands have a different dynamic to them, so its hard to give real solid advice

Is this a thinly-veiled brag that you and your brother engage in 3+level thinking in your home game?

Seriously, though, V/Brother should just 4bet shove.

Not at all - I just like to write out my thought process, irt hands I play. Many times my thought processes are flawed, I admit that. Sometimes they are right though. But by typing them out, sometimes I can spot my owned flawed logic, and sometimes others can spot it and point it out to me.

I agree though - my brother's 4bet shoulda probably just been a shove. He admitted afterwards that he didn't take note of his own stack. He had 60% of his stack in - so I basically viewed his bet as an all-in, regardless.

THEN the hand in question is making a fantastic fold in an spot that most people would just chalk up to a cooler.

I understand you put a ton of effort into your post and it shows, you clearly enjoy poker and had good intentions when making your post. I get that.

BUT man honestly take a look at what you posted.

You should have make your flop re raise larger, your brother cost himself money by not jut shoving for his last bet.

I think leading is a pretty crappy move on the flop. Odds are you are going to take a multiway pot to the turn for 1 bet. Whereas, if you c/r you have a chance of stacking a type of Ax with a heart or a mid pair (that is an over pair). C/r'ing vs a multiway field on that board texture is the far superior play.

i think the post has value in that it helps illustrate the rare event that two players were using 3 and 4-level thinking

what would be much more impressive is if your brother 4-betted you with air, knowing that you would fold (you know that HE KNOWS you flopped flush, therefore him representing strength into that must mean a monster.)

my advice to OP is very clear though: SHOVE in this instance and make A pay for the draw.

if he flopped a higher flush, its a hand for the bankroll to absorb
