ok, im new to full ring, my friend has been playing it a lot and always seems to raise with aq utg, personally im not a big fan. More than likely you are going to get at least one caller to a pot raise, meaning that more than likely you are out of position against at least one person. I always buy in full stack and i'm just trying to see what people think of this, think i'm gonna just fold in first position on certain tables depending on stats
any tips?

p.s. its nl

Im with you. Im not a huge fan of raising AQ from utg, but i think the most important thing is to consider the table. If the table is very tigth go rigth ahead. If you got alot of loosey gooseys, do you really wanna play the hand oop with 3 callers to your preflop raise?

Used to raise it, then folded for quite awhile, and now back to raising again. Is table-dependent like someone else said but think it can be profitable to raise PF.

Oops...just realized I am in MSNL with this thread. Therefore, def ignore me!

Harrington interviewed some old time cash game player in one of his books, and he hated raising AQ utg. I raise AQo utg, but it is fairly useless when reraised, so I may stop unless table conditions are tight. I'll raise any decent hand utg once in a blue moon to mix up my play tho.

I have to agree with this but if the table is playing loose and I think someone in later position is likely to raise I may also limp and play it like I have a large PP and re-raise pre-flop. Hopefully the majority of the time everyone folds and you never have to worry about playing the hand out of position.
