Hero - $600 - MP
Villain - $1k+ - Button

This is only my second time in this game and the villain seems to be a regular, was there night before also and everyone knows his name. He seems like a solid player but maybe on the LAGish side.

Hero AK

I open for $30 in MP and Villain raises to $75 on the button. All folds back to me and I call to see the flop heads up.

[$157] Flop 9xx
x=small cards under 6, I forget the exact cards and they aren't relevant to the hand.

Hero Checks, Villain bets $125, Hero raises allin for $400 more.

First question here is any suggestions on my bet sizing? I felt like calling OOP was burning money and raising $200 was just inviting a 3-bet allin that I would be pot-comitted to call. I would have prefered to raise about $300 but that would leave only $100 behind.

Or do I lead out? If I lead out can I call a raise here? I was scared that if I led out for $125-$140 he would raise me and force a fold. Obviously I'm not going to call off my stack. Without the fold equity this is clearly not an allin hand.

Spoiler:
Villain calls after tanking and shows KK.

I spike a spade on the river and villain mutters something about that being the worst raise he has ever seen. I definitely disagree with that point but I'm not sure it was a good play. According to Pokerstove he was 54% to win after the money went in and that gives no credit to the fold equity I had. I think he lays down JJ and QQ here.

Final Pot: [$1200]

i think this is fine.

if you've seen villain 3bet liberally, then that's enough of a read for me to 4bet and commit, but in my experience, live players rarely 3-bet with junk, at least at the 2/5 game. you're at best flipping if you reraise preflop. i think you can call OOP and play a flop.

No brainer. If he is laggy he could easily call off with QQ-TT there too and that make you the favorite, so against his range you are in great shape.

I like your line and thought process, except that he's laying down QQ and JJ in this spot.

Fine. This is a great result too then.

this. I also like seeing a flop oop with AK to a 3-bet...once that flop hits, I play it the same way. No use making a smaller CR, just put it all in.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I thought I did the right thing at the time but his comment stuck with me enough that I needed to make sure.

I'd play with him as often as I could then and exploit his tilt. I like to think of it like you've anchored his tilt and you can exploit it any time. The next time you raise him, he's going to think of this hand and tilt his range for you towards the draws, because his tilt is anchored in the results of this hand.

Yea, I likely won't be pushing draws against him much for awhile. He can enjoy my 99 next time in this spot.
