$1/$2 at local cardroom. Hero just sat down maybe 5 hands before this hand.

Villian in this hand is an older 50's-60's black guy, sitting on a horribly organized stack of what looks to be 4-500. Clearly a rec player, loud and chummy type of guy. On to the hand:

Hero ($197) is in SB with AA (suits irrelivant for this hand)

UTG straddles and V UTG+1 opens to $10.

Folds around to Hero who makes it $30.

Villian thinks for a little bit looking pretty unsure of how to proceed, but makes the call.

Flop: ($61 after rake): JJ4r

I lead $30 and V raises to $70...

Hero?

Not sure how I should play this one. Being pretty much readless on playstyle from V I'm not sure how to interpret his raise. Is checking flop a better line? Or is my only move to stick it in?

Flat flop raise; check shove turn (if V checks back turn, which is highly unlikely, then open shove river).

pretty much this. little danger of free cards and you have 2 streets to call or make a bet less than potsize.

Grunch (means I didn't read any responses, just OP):

3B could be a bit bigger, but meh. AP to flop, the SPR is just about 3. Never, ever folding, especially not against a guy who's reads given all point toward splashiness. Bet OTF for value is good, but should be 2/3-3/4 pot. His calling range is pretty bet-size inelastic, and we want to make it easy to GII if he calls.

AP post raise, I flat. With a paired flop, V's tend to be huge non-believers and put you on AK. His range here is like 44+ JT+, imo.

If we shove here, he may get away from the PPs smaller than JJ, so flat. Then c/shove turn or open shove river if he checks turn back, imo.

Post grunch edit: Yeah, what BackDoorFlush said.

Pre flop: $40-45
Flop:as played $45/call, if you make it a small size I don't think you can ever consider folding to a raise from this V, as a lot of Villains like this will interpret that sizing as weak and do exactly what he did.
Turn: c/raise ai

Thanks for the responses guys.

In retrospect and as most of you suggested I like just calling on the flop and checking turn with the obvious intention of getting it in. When V made this raise I interpreted that he was never folding so I ripped it and after a good 30 seconds in the tank V sigh called with KJo lol.

My initial thought was that it was just a cooler but after a while I started to wonder if my stack off was too light, and if V's range when he takes this line is comprised of only hands that have me crushed. Haven't seen the guy since so no way to know really. Also yes you guys are right my 3b was too small. Problem is that I wanted the action and V barely called the 3b in the first place, and ironically I think if I made it 40 he'd lol.

3! jamming the flop is bad, because V will correctly fold all of his bluffs and many of his PPs. When you jam the flop, he is pretty much only calling with Jx/44. You gotta keep his bluffs/over-played PP's in play.

We shouldn't be raising postflop at any point. Check is okay, bet small is okay. Probably call as played, but not happy with it. I think folding is not bad.
