He ain't necessarily a calling station, but he has to be bluffing a lot -- a real lot -- to justify even considering a call. Exception: if he bets really weak, you might be priced in. So OK, let's call it check/evaluate. And don't be surprised if he slides out a little sucker bet. That's OK; make him show.
You could b/f; follow the same principle by sliding out a little bet. Against a strong player you'll hate yourself for doing this, but against this guy? Nah.
In general, b/f is a stronger line than check/eval against someone like this, and to be sure, you can get called by worse. However, I think you get snapped off more often. Just my opinion and I won't argue if you felt otherwise at the table.

What's the buy-in here? 300 I assume, if villain had you covered from the time he sat down? Top up pre; your failure to do so could have cost you $40, a very costly error. Top up post, too.
