BTN is a very good regular that posts here, who has crushed these stakes and higher for a long time. He knows I'm taking a shot.

SB is unknown to me, probably a fish from the stack size. This was maybe the 2nd or 3rd hand anyway.

Poker Stars $600.00 No Limit Hold'em - 3 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BTN: $814.00
SB: $437.20
Hero (BB): $698.50

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero is BB with 5 K
BTN raises to $18, SB calls $15, Hero calls $12

BTN had been 3x'ing heads up ... this isn't a terrible spot to squeeze, but I had been 3-betting from BB a fair amount when playing the reg heads up, and been getting some credit, and I felt I wouldn't get much here.

Flop: ($54.00) A T K (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $6.00, SB calls $6, Hero calls $6

He had been c-betting frequently and always reasonable amounts, this is the first min-bet.

I've heard tales of mid-stakes regs doing stuff like this to get people to spaz out, but I haven't really seen it before and have no idea where to start with a range here.

Turn: ($72.00) 9 (3 players)
SB bets $42.00, Hero calls $42, BTN raises to $164,

Whatever the trick was, I think I just fell for it.

If I'm strong enough to call turn, am I strong enough to raise turn?

If I raise turn, am I folding to 3-bets from either player?

Is c/r flop a realistic option? I thought that might be falling for the trap, too.

Did SB fold to the raise? Wasn't sure since I didn't see his action.

God awful spot IMO. Not a chance you can raise here and I think I might even prefer a fold. You have zero outs to the nuts and villain could very easily have a higher pair with a bigger draw.

I think both calling and shoving are spew and I would let it go.

so as played it was on me to act HU

squeeze pre. As played fold. I know you think he's ****ing with you but he probably isn't.

Calling pre is only barely +ev so I'd 3-bet mostly.

I think you should c/r the flop for value/protection and to set up bluffs on the turn/river. Your hand has some robust turn possibilities and it sucks to define your range to the reg as being extremely weak.

Definitely 3-bet to iso the fish. Easy fold on the turn.

fyi this 'good reg' is actually a fish on a huge heater over a big sample..

as played i think folding turn sucks but has to be done you don't have any nut outs..

i'd have him on AA/KK/QJcc here a lot.. he's been keeping bets small as he probably knows you'll 3bet pre any of ur range that smacked that board (TT,KK,AA,AK,KT,AT,QJ) so he's sucking you in with pair/combo hands imo..

"just" a pretty well known dc pro so I figured he knows a thing or two about this card game

Yeah, on the turn I decided that if calling is incorrect and raising is suicide, then the best choice is to fold, so I did.

I think I could have 3-bet pf, c/r'd flop, or raised turn myself to avoid this spot, but once I get here this way, need to release

lol a 5 mill hand sample? fair enough

i cant remember my exact cards in this hand but i know i had a combo draw and the flop was just a misclick, i typed in a bet on numpad and hit the numlock button by mistake. i do this with very annoying frequency.

i want to say i think i had AQ spades but im not 100%, mighta bene like QTc or something whatever its all the same.
