Villain is XJahXweX, you all know him... I don't know how many KdX combos he flats pre-flop, 5dX makes some sense, weirdly played set is viable I guess. I've spoken to a few people and got a range or responses from fold right now to call and call a shove on a non-pair board river.

Every option except call sucks imo.

Call, and call any bet on the river (that doesn't pair). If checked to, bet smallish.

Yeah... I think he kind of put him on the 5d exclusively as well... given that he expected to hear from a set on the flop and that Kd wouldn't lay such an awesome price if I have a set. 'ZOMG he has a straight flush!'

But yeah I think I'll go with SABR's response

What are you doing preflop? One limper -> 6x?

I'm really confused at why the board pairing on the river would make this a fold. This would be the dumbest line ever for a set.

I didn't say I would fold on a paired river. I would just have to think about it more.

I've been thinking about this a little more and the only hand that is making sense to me for him is a flopped flush? I don't know villain well enough to say this too confidently, but it seems like most regulars are going to pop it back there pf a very very high percentage of the time with AK given all the dead money out there... and obviously never slowplaying KK, and folding KQo virtually always... so I don't really see any hands he could have which contain the Kd unless the other card is also a diamond.

5d5x would be an extremely loose call on the flop since hero's range for betting into 4 players is weighted a lot towards better hands with better draws

with a set he'd probably try to get the money in on the flop, or he'd check the turn and hope for a free card from something exactly like what hero actually has

if he has specifically a hand like AhQh he might take this weird sort of line just to "find out where he's at" or maybe fold out a stupid hand like 7d7x or AxKx? I dunno

so that just leaves flopped flushes that decide to slowplay and hope for a brick on the turn to induce hero to shove to "protect his hand" or something. But would he lead the turn with just JdTd or something?

So after all of that I'm thinking now that unfortunately his most likely hand is KdJd or KdTd. I would call the turn though to see what he does on the river, and probably fold if he shoves. I'm not too worried about being exploited here because a) he has to have some sort of showdown value after check-calling the flop, so only the very worst of those hands would just go for an outright bluff now and b) our range for c-betting the flop into 3 players (especially in conjunction with the big UTG+1 iso raise) has a high concentration of big diamonds, and our turn call shows our range to be even stronger, and we will actually have the Kd in our hand quite often when we reach the river.

Just something I've been experimenting with, saw it on a DC video I think. Seems to buy the button a little more often... as demonstrated by this hand obviously
