Game is 2/5 $500 max

Here’s a hand that’s been on my mind and I’m mostly wondering about bet sizings that I used.

Hero is playing over $2000 and has been playing aggressive and running fairly well, stacking a few people during the day. Image is definitely good.

V1 is a 25-ish year old middle eastern guy. He’s been opening lots of hands to $15-20 and playing fairly predictable postflop. Playing $570.

V2 is a MAWG who’s game I respect and I think it’s pretty mutual. Smart player who knows what he’s up to. Playing $450.

Hero is A-3 of spades on the button. One early limp, V1 bets $15 in the LJ, V2 calls HJ, one fold to my right, I 3! to $65 as the waitress is giving me a drink, folds to V1 who calls, V2 also calls.

Flop: ($207) Js - 9s - 4d

X, x, Hero bets $110, short tank call, fold.

Turn: ($427) 2h

X, Hero jams for V1’s remaining $380.

Seems good. As long as you're managing your 3 betting frequency well.

I would play this hand the exact same way. I think he would put in a raise with 2 pair+ OTF and the two shouldn’t improve him so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was folding everything here.

I don’t think it’s a profitable call for him against you despite your aggressive image. You have AA-99s here

p.s. Although it’s easier to do when you’re crushing and confident in your reads, this is obv going to work way more often when you have a super nitty image

Sizing seems awkward both pre-flop and post. 3!/ this hand selection is also slightly optimistic against the stack sizes, even against a looser opponent.

Anyway for better sizing - 75 pre, 145-165 post. You want more fold equity and postflop you are normally playing for stacks.

Villain should also continue turn with everything but kq, qt, ish hands, and i would consider checking back. Hero may also turn his hand into a bluff on a king or queen river.

Seems fair. Not always betting this flop tho. I like checking it a fairly good amount of the time.

Ok, so seems that the players who chimed in thought this is overall a pretty reasonable play. I had wished that I sized up pre a bit, and wondered about sizing up or down a bit on the flop. I think checking the flop is a poor play here though.

Spoiler:
V says that he’s on a draw as I expected as he calls, and flips over Q-10dd. River is a 10 of clubs and V scoops a big pot against my ace high. C’est la vie.

Well played by Hero. Pretty sweet to occasionally get called by worse in this spot.
