H: BU. Mid 20s white guy TAG image but definitely bluffs more than most in this game, lots of history with all Vs in this game. (Covers)
V: CO. mid 20s white guy, aggressive thinking player, loose preflop — especially in late position. Winner in this game. (1100)
Fish: loose passive fit or fold ($400)
OTTH:
Fish limps. Folds to V in CO, he raises to $20.
H looks down at J9cc. Hero calls.
I thought about 3 betting but I literally just 3 bet this same villain last orbit in a similar LP v LP spot (He was HJ I was CO) I had QTdd and he folded. Gotta have some flats here I think. Thoughts welcome on this point.
Blinds fold. Fish folds. HU to flop.
Flop ($47) Q67cxx.
V checks. I have a decent barreling hand on this board and it hits my range pretty well. H bets $20.
I think I can go 25 or 30 here but I’m really not expecting V to fold on this street. He’s an aggressive opponent and is probably only checking here with some showdown value. He will call with A high for one street here.
V calls.
Turn ($87) 2x no flush draw. V checks. H bets $45.
Well, this card sucks. I have Jack high and no straight draw. I stick with the plan to try to fold out A high or a low pair with my read that he has some marginal showdown value on flop with his check. I don’t think I need to go too big here, I don’t want to polarize to 2p+. I just want to seem like I have Qx or something like 88 or 99.
V calls.
River ($177) 5c. V leads $55.
Huh? This feels like my card. It completes the most obvious straight draw 89. I have the 9c in my hand. I feel like I can rep all sets except QQ, 89, and 67. It seems to me like V is turning whatever marginal showdown value that he has into a bluff or he has a thin value hand trying to get paid off by Qx or 88 99 TT.
H thinks for 20 seconds and puts out 7 green chips for a raise to $175.
Thoughts? Appreciate feedback on all streets or comments on my analysis.

i kind of like going a bit bigger. i think if we are going for this raise we want to sometimes get a fold from k-q

If you're betting turn with this hand you're bluffing way too much.
Not a terrible hand to bluff raise OTR but can't do it too often. I'd make it $225.

I agree generally bigger on the river is probably better. I definitely wouldn’t always bet this turn with this hand, but it felt like a decent situation with my read.
