thursday afternoon 9 handed game

hero: young, new to table, no significant hands, $500

v1: old lady, typical tight passive, $300

v2: middle aged male, been fairly active in the limited hands hero has seen, $1,200

folds to hero in mp and i raise to $15 with KTcc, folds to v2 otb and he calls, sb folds, v1 in bb calls

flop ($45ish) QT5 rainbow, v1 checks, hero bets $35, v2 calls, v1 folds

turn ($115ish) QT56 hero checks, v2 checks behind

river ($115ish) QT56K hero checks, v2 bets $100

i checked turn because i think if i bet v2 will fold a lot of the Tx hands i beat and will always call with Qx hands and draws like KJ and J9, i want draws to pay but i think a larger part of v2's range is Qx hands and random sets and 2 pair type hands. thoughts?

i checked river because i didn't want to get check/raised which i think is flawed thinking on my part, i should be capable of bet/folding river to a raise. thoughts? should i be betting river for value or be happy with check calling. i think KJ is a large part of v2's range but idk if he would bet river with KJ or just check it back. i probably should be betting to get called by Qx and worse 2 pair hands but i think v2 is betting Qx, 2 pair, and sets on the turn. i think v2's check back range on the turn in Tx hands, KJ, and J9. is this a range or is this range too small?

+1 to river being a must bet unless we have a read that (a) his range is weak and (b) he'll bet that weak range very often.

Exactly. Without reads we need to go for value and assume he's a typical LLSNL who rarely will bluff-raise river. Meanwhile we can get value from a Q who thinks you're FOS or something like KJ that backed into TP.

b/f $75ish. He's not raising worse for value and as already mentioned a bluff raise seems unlikely. You can get calls from worse. As played, you may have saved money. His $100 bet to me screams of J9 going for max value in the event you have a real hand.

yeah river bluff raises are so uncommon at these stakes that i should have known i can bet/fold comfortably
